Also, if evilcherry wants to RNG my starting place, he can easily change my ranching speciality to Pigs/Goats/Unicorns/Dragons whatever. :P

Actually, all of us can handle a rancher, hills are pretty much just elevated grassland. Yours is just the most optimal...

Okay, so perhaps we could all handle a rancher, Lencil is the only place that could support a very large number of them. I'll concede the fact that he could be one of the few ranchers in the gigantic forest that is Talaca, or the tiny city-state that is Lewangaria.

Finally, long-awaited update!

Spend 20 florins colonizing nearby uninhabited land, spend 7 florins recruiting capable sailors. Spend 20 florins investing in setting up a furring industry (For lack of better word to describe it).

Unfortunately no land is uninhabited. [6][2][3][2][1] You are bordered by a few entities. Clockwise from the west, you have the Principality of Ferrara, Duchy of Drava up the river, Despotate of Epicea in the hills between Talaca and Lencil, Marquisate of Skordi from the forest stretching to the coast north of Lewangaria, and the Federated Towns of Telos along the coast. (Note: their government fits their description. Meaning Ferrara is ruled by a prince, etc) As such, your adviser saved you 20f and unwanted wars by not staking claims on others' lands.

7/3=+2.33=+2. [5]-2+2=5. You attracted enough sailors to man 2 ships.

20/5=+4. [2]-2+4 = 4. You threw away a lot of money to establish a trapper guild, and it worked more because of your high incentives than the actual attractiveness of the resource. Resource output of furs +1; resulting in +1 in trade tarriff/quarter.

Find the price of the building, buy it, clean up, furnish, and hire workers.Get the letter to the king. Best introduce yourself to the ruler, best to make them think they're important.

[3] Selima tried to bargain for a price, and found out you need 5 florins to restore that to working order. Cost includes paying its owner, refurnishing the building, all fittings, and employing people. Employment seemed hardest; skills of accounting was not that widespread and is treated more like a trade secret.
[3] The guards refuse to entertain Jon. You may continue to do business as usual, though.

Disband the Useless Peasants in the Military

20 Florins go towards expanding the empire towards the SE in order to get right up to the water, 20 more florins goes towards colonizing the land to the NE where we hope to find ore in them there mountains, and 17 go towards making Lencil a better place to live so as to attract migrants.

((They do not have standing armies. Instead, they hire armies. And you are got rural lands, which means peasants are never in short supply.))

2 Levy Infantry and 3 Levy Infantry were disbanded. [6] Some of them refuses to go home, and emerges as a free company!
Free Company: 1st Professional Infantry in Lencil. Currently not doing anything in particular.

[4][2][5][5]You saved 40f from not declaring war to these entities, CW from Despotate of Epicea between Lencil and Talaca: Theric (n. Thera) tribes in the north, Principality of Morwood in the NE to the sea, Principality of Durant between Lencil and the Sea, and Duchy of Carrera fitted between Durant, Skordi, Epicea and the sea.

17/5=3 5-1+3 = 7: The town expansion goes well. Town Taxes +1/quarter.

((dear players, I know I was lazy. I'm still fleshing out the rules for resources and trading. I intended to keep that simple, though.))

Well, if your looking to attract players...mission accomplished!

Spoiler: Char Sheet (click to show/hide)
[4] Oriana did start in Lencil.
[6]
De Lia Pafilia is a ranch in 1d7=[6] 7th parcel of Lencil. It provides you with an income of 2f/quarter. though this does not count as a "fine horse" resource. Your innovation, while propelling you into becoming one of the royal horse suppliers, also saddles you with a debt of 40f from your investment. It is still serviceable at the moment, paid by income from de lia Pafilia.

I didn't miss it. I just do not feel comfortable creating characters and updates at the same time.

Spend thirty florins starting an academy. And spend the remaining 10 florins trying to get a few engineers.

((All right. 40F is pretty extreme for a debt lol-it's like half of Lencils income for a year-so what benefit, exactly did I get from that?

@areyoua: I'm pretty much screwed here in regards for expanding my business. It will take me 5 years to pay it off with my current income. Unless I can get a royal backer, I won't be able to provide Lencil much until that time...hint hint...

Maybe a stipend of 5F a quarter from the Prince would help me pay it back in about under two years-and of course, I would agree to pay that back in the future in fine horses at a discounted price. This would be about 25% of your quarterly income, though. S'up to you.

))

Oriana was looking her financials. She shook her head, and nipped at the peach cobbler she could barely bring herself to eat.

Between buying her way into the Guild of Royal Suppliers, wasting her money on that "magic wand" research, daily costs for running the ranch and attending court, and supporting his family, her accrued debt had risen to a level of 40F. It wasn't that surprising...after all, you spend money to make money. She had done the math, and it looked like 5 years of scraping by until the debt was paid off. No problem, but she wasn't getting any younger.

She wondered if the court might be convinced to help her...if not, she knew there was market for horses in the other states...De Lia Pafilia would one day be the largest ranch in the Italia, she had no doubt.

Now, Oriana had to convince everyone else of that.

Actions: Quarter/Oriana spends 1 Florin (on fancy clothes/jewelery/Apartments/feasts etc) travelling to and attending Royal Court in Lencil, looking to establish business deals with local merchants. Needless to say, she spreads word that her business needs some start up money to all ears.

((Wait wait, the guards did not accept the letter that I was sent?))

Use 30 florins to start a navy, 20 florins to start a naval academy, hire 1 cavalry and 1 infantry regiment and find the price of engineers..

((as suggested by Iituem, any sovereign who does not have a stake in any action may roll for that action.))

Spend thirty florins starting an academy. And spend the remaining 10 florins trying to get a few engineers.

I suppose that is a engineer academy.

[1]+10/3-3=1; [2]+30/10-3=2.
You were impressed by a few applicants after posting a notice for engineers in the town square. You tell them to immediately start up an engineering academy, hoping to have graduates next year. On the day of its planned grand opening, however, the building collapsed. While you were late to the scene, but it goes without saying that this farce destroyed a good chunk of your credibility.

((It was just 5 years of net income. And you don't really need to pay back that debt - the bankers loaned you money because they wanted interest. Your ranch is profitable, and the bankers would intend it to keep that way, so they can continue to suck blood from you. It is in their interests to foil your attempts to pay them back.))
[4]+1 You had an audience with the Court. [3] You did a few speculative trading and gained an one-off income of 1f, but failed to strike up any long-term business deal. [5] A banker comes to you, prepared to lend 40f, with an interest of 2f/quarter. However he wanted to see your business plan; cheap money does not come easily.

((Wait wait, the guards did not accept the letter that I was sent?))

Use 30 florins to start a navy, 20 florins to start a naval academy, hire 1 cavalry and 1 infantry regiment and find the price of engineers..

((Assume that the guard has an interest to not accept the letter, for whatever reasons.))
Please specify the size and specification of your navy. I wanted to assume you hire levy regiments, but would like a confirmation. In addition, you need to recruit some sailors to man the ships.

[4]-2+20/10=4. The naval academy opened. There are always some free seamen around, and you literally bribed them to train further sailors. It now produces sailors enough to man a ship each year.

The regiments would be at the middle set and I just realized I need ships. Actually only hire 1 middle set cavalry and use 15 ducats to start a shipyard.

((How much do engineers cost?))

((For all specialists, i.e. engineers sailors or the such, you either try to recruit some, at -2 modifier, and each 3f spent will improve your rolls by 1, or you build an academy, which trains them, but building it has a -2 modifier and can only be improved by each 10f spent.
By middle set, you mean Nobles?))

Oriana knew she needed the money. The portly banker in front of her was in a position to give it to her, and well, she had never earned anything without risk. Nothing...if she could double her income or better in the next year, her fortunes would be much improved.

Actions: Oriana puts forth the following business plan, most of it involves buying out the land and herds of existing, poorer ranchers in her area-she points out several regional ranchers that are on the verge of collapse-and rehiring them under her employ as minor partners. She details an expansion of her own ranch by at least double it's current size.

She only asks that interest on the loan be put off for one year-and, after that year, the Banker will receive the full amount plus ten percent of the interest owed, and regular payments afterwards. (9F in all)
