(Well, conceptually this is from the You are Lord and later You are King series. I transplanted it to an environment more akin to a renaissance Italy, in which there is never-ending change of alliances, no single state claiming hegemony, the golden age of Condottieri, rise of gunpowder, and the authorship of The Prince.)

The first 3 applicants are the sovereign of their own princely state. Later applicants can initially be anything but prince.

1. The Enlightened States of Lencil
2. I, Prince George Walden, have always been a believer in moving forward. It has always been my belief that democracy will rule the world, and that the people must be an integral part of government. Of course, this would mean giving up power to the peasants, but my loyalty are to the people first, and myself second. Most of the time. Maybe more like some of the time. Let's just agree that it's every other Sunday during March.
3. Lencil is all fertile farmland, if you don't count the vast forests covering all of the northeast. Or the very small freshwater lake in the middle. The people are nice and friendly, but not when they have to protect their nation from harm, again.
4. Of course, I didn't just get born into this position, I was chosen by my father. In Lencil, being the eldest doesn't automatically mean you're the next prince, you've got to be the current kings choice.

Am I supposed to come up with the state of my realm or are you?

I'm almost a little disappointed that this has nothing to do with the singer.

I'm a little disappointed that You are King has strayed so far from this design, since that was what it was meant to be in the first place.  Take my advice: stay the hell away from anything to do with magic or fantasy.  Players will make horrible assumptions about what goes, and will generally be complete idiots about it.

That said, will be following this thread with interest.

I'm following the maxim "any sufficiently structured magic is indistinguishable from science" and "any sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic" to the word.

In other words. Well. Defined. Magic. That. Can. Be. Replaced. By Science.

1. What is the name of your realm?: Talaca

2. Describe yourself: Me? well, I'm fairly young, Competant and very assertive over those I don't trust personally. I'm fairly introvertive though, so I really don't have a large inner circle. Those that are in it are rewarded and treasured highly.

3. Describe your realm: A lush lightly forested land that borders some mountains to the west, the sea to the south. A river runs through the land from the mountains to the sea. The climate is mild and temperate, though the winters are bitter. The people are varied, though mostly Loyal to the leader.

4. When and how do you get onto this position?: Though martial might and courtly education. 500 heirs, only one could take the mantle. Only the most competant get to that point, and to gain power is to be the most competant.

1. What is the name of your realm? Lewangaria
2. Describe yourself.  A tall young prince with black long hair in a ponytail and a long goatee and waxed moustache. He is willingy to do everything to grow more powerful. I highly support science and education.
3. Describe your realm. A rich seaside realm with big advanced and rich cities, very little villages. Warm climate and usual storms at the coastal area, winters aren't very cold. Most of the people are merchants or aristrocrats. A lot of mercenaries and craftsmen. Few soldiers, but those that I have are the best of the best.
4. When and how do you get onto this position? After my father was assassinated the nobles supported me and I became the ruler of my realm. The civil war was more political than open warfare.

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

God DAMN I love this game!

Isn't going to be hard and stressful to gm for three realms at the game start? I mean even with another main gm Iituem is still having troubles.

Oh and something on topic. If I were to be a prince would I have to do rolls and descriptions and such? seems vagel got it.

and when you say anything but a prince I can be anyone?

Exactly the opposite. Iituem got into trouble because people got immersed into things of minuscule proportions; the only thing on the grand stage on 314a was a claimant launching a challenge, resulting in a siege leading. Keeping the grand scheme interesting is more important imho.

And yes, as long as you keep yourself in the proportions of the game. I reserve every right to reject characters.

Ok...then a character will be spun up after I'm done with my report.

Edit: Would a son of a wealthy banking family be rejected?
Edit: Im trying for an Italian-Arabic theme with this character.

Name: Mahiveno des Karesti
Occupation: Banker, and scholar.
Age:27

Description: Mahiveno is one of the few sons of the great Geonto des Karesti, or as he was usually called "The Goldfarmer" (or Goldshitter when he wasn't around). He led a pampered life learning from the best and eating off the tables of some of the most renown men in the world...Course the they were usually asking money from his father but, he still had eaten with them. His interests are his books and old scrolls and would have rather read the histories rather than having to read through the loans and debts of a few noble families again.

Looks: He is not what you'd call the most comely or handsome man; you would'nt take him for some commoner but nor a rich man. He has short hair straight and groomed in the colour of black. His skin, like his countrymen, is also dark. He wears clothes of blacks and golds that are similar to the clothes of his home, usually a robe of of black with belts and rings of gold.

Misc:

  • His father and siblings have urged him to marry since he was fourteen. He's not have had someone had an offer in years thanks to a little show he put on for the last one...
  • Has three nearly constant companions, his pen and paper, and his childhood friend Selima; a servant girl Mahiveno had befriended in his childhood. Now an assistant to Mahiveno.
  • A personal guard (as in plural not single).

Nope. In fact, some of the characters that I wanted to attract.

[6][1][2]
The Enlightened States of Lencil is an oddity in this land, having a good area but largely rural population. It has a lot of land, but suffers from poor urban development. Partly it is because of the lack of resources. You have lumber, but is of poor quality.

Spoiler: Lencil (click to show/hide)

1. What is the name of your realm?: Talaca

2. Describe yourself: Me? well, I'm fairly young, Competant and very assertive over those I don't trust personally. I'm fairly introvertive though, so I really don't have a large inner circle. Those that are in it are rewarded and treasured highly.

[3][5][2]
While your realm is not that large, because of your maritime position, you got a good urban population. You do not have good resources, the best being fur. It remains your job to satisfy 500 would-be pretenders.

Spoiler: Talaca (click to show/hide)

[5][3][5]
(sorry, But I intended to make it fair! I intentionally changed your army to a more professional force.)
Lewangaria is a small place. A city-state is the best way to describe it. It is made of Lewangaria proper, plus an unnamed town which has grown into a suburb of Lewangaria. Part of its wealth was built on great fishing grounds. You once had a navy, but in the ensuring chaos, your fleet was burnt.
Spoiler: Lewangaria (click to show/hide)

Princes can now do your actions. Please keep them in bold.
