Things are looking up again for Lencil. Admittedly, things were looking good when the Carrerans only demanded one parcel of land when they could've grabbed all ten, and things were looking stellar before that, so the experts said it was all square. It was in this time of plenty that a simple mercenary captain from Morwood tried to grab a piece of the ever growing Lencil pie (which taste oddly like dirt).
Buy out one of the local taverns after I get paid and try to haggle down the price.
Although Lencillians aren't known for their racism, and are normally quite nice, except to the bloody Carrerans, the Barbarians from Morwood don't exactly have the best reputation since they invaded in 549. Lencil won, and got their tiny bit of forest, but the destruction was still devastating.
Alexander the Great Bard wandered the land in search of a tavern to buy in these times [5] and found one. It was in decent shape, but the owner needed money after having heard of il Basterdo's escapades and trying to gamble like a pro. Alas, he wasn't a pro and the rest isn't history, but it is obvious. [2] However, he needs quite a lot of cash to pay off his loans, totaling 8f. 80% of the Bard family's reserves. Alexander the Great tried haggling the price down, and at one stage threatened to conquer all of the known world if he didn't lower the price, [4] which confused the owner so much he accidentally said 7f. Alexander snatched up the the deal, and cut a complex knot for no other reason than to insert a reference to history. The owner and his workers would stay in place, but you would take the profits. How much profit? ((I accidentally pressed "generate" twice on Random.org and got two 6's. I rolled again just to see, and got another, so you know what's next))
Gigantic Overreach [6][6][6] The ink on the transfer notice had barely dried when the jaws of hell opened up and swallowed the tavern! No, not a joke. However, everyone managed to get out, but because they were all drunk, no one will be able to relate this tale with any sort of certainty. Except Alexander, who continued to tell the story until he later died of malaria. Luckily, the tavern was insured to the effect of 20f, which you as the owner now receive. The tavern was in a rural area and was more a stopping point for travelers, so the travelers just assumed it had been dismantled. It didn't cause a great commotion amongst the drunks, [2] but a few stopped to "ask" to hold 6f. [3] Alexander reminded them that he was going to conquer the known world, so they only walked away with 5f.
18f - +3 payment, +15 insurance. -7 cost of tavern
Alexander Bard - Right-hand Man, brother - Gone in Morwood
Grigori Chenkya - Surgeron
William Gord - Carpenter
Weak as an infant kitten (-2 to most physical activity, -1 to even the least strenuous activities)
If you really want to, replace "jaws of hell" with rampaging, pyromaniac travelers.
Also, I'll wait for winter to come.
