This is my fourth or fifth fortress (well the 3rd that i actually tried on...) and my dwarves seem to be taking hallucinogens in this fortress so look in the spoiler for the 3 artifacts so far and a description of the most fail one.

P.S it's only been three years so it's an average about 1/year for me

I've got 26 artifacts in this fortress over a 13 year span (currently have a mooded dwarf but can't get him to start), most of them are pretty retarded.

I prompty traded it off right away for food.

I got a siltstone figurine, encrusted with siltstone, dangles with rings of siltstone, menaces with spikes of siltstone. And had an image of itself, made of siltstone.


But my favorite artifact (in terms of usefulness, awesomeness, and sheer dumb luck) was probably an adamantine breastplate, encrusted with diamonds, studded with platinum, menaced with spikes of billon. I was just dumbfounded about how lucky I was... (granted those materials composed a rather large amount of my fortress, since I just quantum-stockpiled my stone, wood, and some of my most common metals.)

If you could trade it away, it wasn't an artifact.

My most useless artifacts are usually things like pine amulets made from a single log, thus having only one minor decoration. Woo.

I dont get the armorsmith who made a single iron high boot, why the hell would you make only one?

One day I dream of having a warrior decked out in full artifact gear, cos 1. It would be epic and 2. That dwarf would look as stupid as hell

It's these stupid artifacts that make me not be able to wait for the addition of curses/magic in this game.

If Toady does add magical attributes to artifacts, then who knows what that mitten would do?

Maybe it would allow your dwarf to punch with the might of one thousand bronze colossi?

Maybe it would give your dwarf invulnerability in that hand?

Maybe it would curse them to turn any object they touch into vomit?

The possibilities...

(Also, I might add, that I hope there is an eventual fix to the recursive artifact "bug", a good 40% of my artifacts display pictures of themselves.)
