Turn 8
It all has to end sometime...

Duratan/Tarran

Duratan knows the answers! Now he just has to...

(Duratan Int 3+1=4 vs Dandrauth Int 6+3=9, Dandrauth win)

Dandrauth has an answer prepared, apparently.

While there has been heated debate on the topic by the Draconic eldest there has been little to suggest that color plays a role in a dragon's habits more than upbringing, social clim..."

You lose track at this point. what?!

(Duratan Int 4+1=5 vs Dandrauth Int 3+3=6, Dandrauth win)

Dandrauth interrupts your thoughts.

"Lightning Dragons draw super heated air or static electricity, usually from passing storms or deserts.

Fire Dragons eat a combination of Iron and Aluminium, from deep in the Earth.

Ice Dragons draw cold from natural ice, snow or nitrogen."

Your mother beams proudly. "Dandrauth wins this round as well."

Well...buh!

(Duratan Int 3+2=5 vs Dandrauth Int 2+3=5, Tie)

Duratan is quicker on the next one, quickly naming Ashmuul-he was an impressive figure, after all.

"Good-now, how did Ashmuul fall?"

Before Duratan can open his jaws, Dandrauth interrupts.

"A crossbow bolt, fired by a cowardly betrayer from his own coven. The Death of Ashmuul teaches us the hubris can be dangerous, even to Dragons."

Your mother nods to both of you. A tie is better than a loss!

((Duratan has reached the end of the Wyrmling stage-he can either freeplay/roleplay actions from here, or wait for the others to catch up.

He gains +5 Trustworthiness from his mothers lessons))

Alvrea Markon'vie/Haika

Alvrea has an odd thought one day. If Dragons can live-and bird things, and two-leg human things, why not elements? Surely, water must be alive-and fire too!

By now, she had figured out her breath is...wildly chaotic. She never knows quite what it will do. That makes it much more fun of course.

So, one day, she finds a quiet corner-and after making sure no one is in her way with a few warning calls-tries her breath...and whats more, she tries to control it.

(Alvrea Int roll 5+2-2=5)

(Random breath, 7=lightning!)

She feels a powerful bolt of energy emerge from her snout-she knows this is "Lightning". He brother Agaronix can do this all the time-and he does, helpfully frying food for the hatchlings when he's bored.

She can sense the bolt moving to impact with the wall...and, thus bending her will toward it, she tries to move it. Something happens-Alvrea is not sure what. She knows she was able to direct the bolt to a different spot.

Now, how did she do that?

((Alvrea has gained Targeted Breath-+2 to hit on an ambush, or when one turn is spent aiming))

Urenth/Wolfchild

Urenth knows these creatures are cowardly-how about she sings a counter song against them?

((Urenth Charisma 5, Vs Ice Siren A Charisma 4-1=3))

She boldly strides to the mouth of the cave-her cave, and for a moment, the Ice Sirens are afraid. Their singing is stopped, for a moment...and the duel of song begins.

Urenth sings...

Of a warm fire
A setting sun
The fire of the untamed heart

The first Siren tries to respond...

Cold and dark
All...is...

But Urenth is stronger!

Light over Dark!
Good over wrong!
The Ice melts before a new dawn!

Then the Siren explodes in a shatter of Ice Crystals. Sweet.

...

The next one steps forward and begins her terrible song.

((Urenth Charisma 5, Vs Ice Siren B Charisma 6-1=5))

Lonely little Urenth
Unloved.
Unwanted.
Better in the Dark and Cold with us!

But, Urenth is not daunted.

Unloved, but not by choice
I cannot pity myself
All that wounds me makes me stronger...begone, or face my wrath

The Ice Siren sneers, and slinks away, momentarily bested.

The last one is surely the most dangerous...

((Urenth Charisma 2, Vs Ice Siren C Charisma 4-1=3))

No hope...little Urenth..
Defiance has a price
In this cold and dark, you will find no friends...
you will join us...if you will it or not.

She must sing...

There is hope where there is life.
I know this as I am calm
I pay the price of defiance, willingly and without regret...

But, the Siren is stronger.

How do you pay a price you do not know?
Far too much for a orphan Dragons claws.
There is a world you will come to know.
It's out here-in the ice, in the snow.

Urenth staggers from the onslaught

(1d25=21)

There is only one Siren Left. Urenth is close to breaking under her enchanting aura of despair...will she try one last burst of song? Or perhaps, a more physical solution.

Asabragr/Ahra

Asabragr would not leave his sister to a horrible fate without a fight...

(Sneak attempt, Intelligence Roll=1)

His attempts at sneaking were...not impressive. The Dwarves saw him almost right away-but they were experienced enough not to react...when Asabragr jumped down, he found himself in a hastily placed ambush...

Asabragrs brave leap only finds the axes of the Beard-fangs awaiting him-they strike in unison. He manages to evade one, but the other finds his scalp an easy target, and nearly lays him to the ground...but the sight of his sister in the cage moves him to get back up-he viciously claws at the blue capped one, even while the other frantically hacks away at him with his axe...Dragon though he is, the wounds are too great to be ignored...with a quiet sigh, he resigns himself to death-willing his body into desperation overdrive!

They hack at him, yet he feels no pain. He feels his left horn severed from his head, yet does not heed it's loss. When his right rear leg is cut to the tendon, the pain does not make him quail. His lifeblood begins to spill upon the ground, but the cold creeping into his heart does not make him afraid.

As Asabragr strikes again and again at the blue one, channeling all his rage and pain into it, there is a vital snapping...something is telling him that it is over...he staggers back to the lip of the cave and collapses...angry at having been defeated, but now he feels a sense of peace.

Asabragr died like a true Dragon...he died heroically...he died with honor in defense of his family...and yet, he still died.. His last sight before all faded was more Beard-Fangs arriving-hundreds of them-,tending to the crippled Blue One, and his poor sister, waking up and seeing him, for the first and last time...

Overhead, unseen by most-a single, small star winks into existence from the void.

*They say for every Good Dragon that dies, a Star is born in the Heavens...to guide him home.*

OOC:  I really can proscratinate! If anything can be learned from Asabragrs end, it's to choose your fights very carefully. Once you go under 25% HP, your likely to rage-and your likely to die even if you win.

Anywho, checking waiting list now...

There was only one of them now, and the song is vastly more dangerous than the claws, so Urenth pretends to start to sing another verse, but instead lunges at the siren, trying to knock the breath out of her, Urenth's whole body is a weapon, and she will trust more to speed than strength (and if it makes sense, breath on herself if wounded) any time the siren tries to sing, Urenth will charge at her, making her stop

+3 BONUS HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE. Seriously, how is that possible? What gave him that bonus? I know it isn't stats, because +2 is the absolute max bonus from stats.

Ah well, looks like my guy is destined to be the lowest of the family. Shame.

Sorry. I've been agitated lately. It's less fun and more of a chore to update for me that way.

~The crowd grows restless. Ever observant of custom, though, not a single hand is wrung more than is allowed, nor a single hat doffed to sweat a brow.  "His excuses wear thin." the bright Woman with the brass necklace whispers. "Surely, he took this burden upon himself? What right does he have to complain?"

They mull. A Man in a red hat says, "If he views it as a burden, then perhaps it is no longer a question of conscience, but one of willpower." A quiet murmur of agreement. The silvery tink of reacquired fluted glasses. The curtains part...the show may begin, after all? The applause is reserved for now. ~
