In Dwarf mode, I built a pretty epic fort, and I built it on an island. However, I want to loot it in adventure mode. Is there anyway I can reach it? Or do I have to build a giant bridge in fort mode?

you can try swimming, but you may drown first.

Otherwise there's not much you can do. at least until boats are implemented.

Swim across the ocean, that is the only way!

oceans freeze during night so be quick.

Deep oceans also eat fps so if you can start the journey at night when the ocean's frozen it may save rl time (until it thaws anyway).

Giant bridge and the help of Embark anywhere to get over to the main land.

Don't forget to drain the ocean to allow for easy building!

ah. I'll have to rember to try and find a narrow stretch, and set off at sunset.. for the best chance at crossing sucessfully..

use DFhack to continuously make an obsidian bridge to go across.

Someone really should write a story about reaching the island, it would be cool.  Or maybe post some reports on their progress.

I;ve got an adventurer, anda  world that seems to provide an opportunity for a sea crossing.. I'll attempt it once I get him trained up..

Crossed the ocean before - as one might expect, nothing exciting really happens. It is just water, lots and lots of water for a long time. Then it is ordinary land.

yeah.. what'll make mine interesting, Is I suspect I may kill at least one significant NPC in the process.. or maybe I'll try to take up free diving.. I think I've yet to lose an adventurer in a diving accident..

My attempts at swimming underwater met with the problem that regardless of your swimming skill (the adventurer I tested with was 2/3 the way across the ocean, so you can be guarenteed that he was pretty high), as soon as you go below the surface, you go from "swimming" to "drowning", and there doesn't seem to be any way to avoid this except keeping your head above the waves.

Apparently dwarves are like dogs and don't know how to hold their breath under water or something.
