Started today (I'm finding to much timesinks here in this forum):

HopFlash a dangerous and watchful gentleman

I want to go slowly and not to much pushed with free items or such (I hope this game is playable without buying or getting free things from high level players!).

But having some friends in this dark london seems clever ;)

I don't think high level players can give you shinies either way. You're on your own, with the exception of the occasional probably-cat-in-a-box, a friendly chess match or a poisoned dagger in the back. You also don't buy anything really, you can spend money on special adventures for really high levels or action refresh. That's about it.

sounds nice (ok...not the dagger I think ;) )

10 minutes per step is sometimes a little slow...but ok...it's slowing down the timesink effect.

HA! TAKE THAT YOU DAMN GOAT!

About 20 attemps later, he is beaten. The wounds were so worth it.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

You can also spend monies to become en Exceptional Gentleman, which doubles your action pool (by giving you another candle). And sometimes to make stuff happen way, way faster (like, to skip wasting several dozen actions on gathering info, and just get it for a few points of Fate/Nex). All in all, it's all completely optional, you even get some free Fate to try things out, and everything seems rather cheap, really. Also, don't rub shoulders with the devils if you like your soul. I had to spent most of my free Fate just to get mine back. :)

If somebody wants to get rid of Nightmares, there is a card in Lodgings that allow you to confess your fears to a friend. I, BlindKitty, am a good listener, if your need that.

I, though, like to live dangerously:

Also I think my collection of stolen souls should be a nice distraction from my own.

Wow, so nice to see so many B12ers getting into Fallen London!

I've been playing this for years... I did neglect it for a long time but I've been active for a while now. Feel free to add me as Kotshka (my ancient account) or Aira Vidzej (new account created for the purposes of experiencing all the new material from scratch).

I've noticed with my new character that the "early" stages of the game go far quicker now than they used to. When I first started playing, they only had content up to levels of about 60 for the 4 main qualities. You had to grind for months to get that high. Now, it seems possible to get over 60 within a week or so of starting a new character. I find it highly disconcerting and really quite a shame. There's plenty of excellent material at the lower levels, but once your qualities get too high, you can't access it anymore. I think they focused so hard on making new content for higher-level players that they forgot that new players (and even old ones) can still enjoy the stuff that's been in there from the start.

In any case, I did back Sunless Sea and I'm very pleased to see they made their minimum with half a month to go. Fingers crossed for the stretch goals!

Aye, I did notice that I flew through the low levels - I've been play a week-ish and am just under 60 on my primary quality, and 30-ish on the other three. I've actually been resorting to the Talkative L.B. in order to get at some of the lower-level stuff I breezed past, and I'm still convinced I've missed out. This seems like the typical MMO problem where "everyone" wants to be doing "endgame content" once there's a sizable population doing it, so the tracks get greased and it becomes harder to enjoy the ride...

[e] ...which in this case strikes me as silly, since the ride seems like the main point...

Sell things. Harder to find things are worth more.
