I have now assembled 8 uses of villains for my criminal gang, I just have to get my connected criminals back up to 20. It would seem that each stat has a related method of obtaining high value items - unfortunately I burnt through about 8000 cryptic clues to get my villains, when I could simply have used a bunch of actions fighting the war of assassins.

In other news, I finally completed the Case of The Fidgeting Writer.
In my latest run through I had only 10 deja vu's (the starting level result you get from tales of horror), despite that, I got extreme luck, not losing more then a average of 1 per stage, ending up with 1 Last Hope of a Fidgeting Writer (which I turned in for a night whisper), and two Lenses of Black Glass (one of which I traded for items, and the other one finished up the storyline for me).
Extremely lucky indeed.
So, on that run I got about ~500 echos worth of extremely rare goods (two of which can be gotten no other place, and two of which can only be gotten in a single place, and are almost impossible to get even then without using up hundreds of actions to make sure) for about 50 actions and ~50 echos worth of goods.

Well done! I haven't quite made it yet, having had 3 black lens failures so far. I'm stymied at the moment, because I've run out of extraordinary implications - I can't convert my tales of terror due to that unfortunate business at the university. There is probably another solution, but I'm trying to keep away from spoiler diving the wikis at the moment.

Also, It appears that Ronald's plant is, indeed, the crappiest!

I am now level 2!

I want a rematch! I've been level two a few times - you drop back whenever you lose.

I was afraid to raise my stats because I did not want to miss any good content... But it looks like the fun just starts! My stats are around 20-30, is it safe to raise them higher on mundane actions without losing a lot of good story?

Meanwhile, I've got a rat infestation... I've spent like 40 turns and they do not go anywhere. Any good ideas how to deal with them?

Also some random card gave me 4 nightmares... How do I get rid of them safely?

Nightmares can be flushed out with laudanum, the resulting wounds can be healed with another kind of tonic in the bazaar. Scandal is the most annoying to remove of the menaces, though.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Yes. 1 bottle is 1 echo. Usually it works at 1:1 ratio for bottles/nightmare, unless you've gotten rather too close to 8.

Laudanum is also pretty much free once you get a couple and the winsome urchin.

Curses!  I'm now Unaccountably Peckish D:  I'd hoped to avoid this particular menace, but little did I know that taking a Clay Man shopping for vegetables would inflict me with the munchies.  *sigh*

The bad place you go to when your wounds are high is so much worse than all the others. I've gotten used to just getting Nightmares to max to fix them up, but this is taking forever and it really turns me off playing when I have to wait for cards to show up. >:(

Yeah, I agree. Once you get a boat to go zailing in though you can just visit Bullbone Island (I think that's the right one) and have them taken care of there. It requires three or four days of constant actions, but at least you get more out of it than just wound treatment. You can also have your nightmares reduced while there if you feel so inclined.

I've followed Wizenby, Deon_DF and HoldenDrum on twitter.
Does anyone still need a cat?

Oh, I'm glad you posted that up. I no longer need a cat as I just recently received one. Unfortunately I also haven't been receiving any cat in a box cards either.

I notice the Starveling cat gives -3 persuasive. Since this can't be equipped, is that just... permanent.

Also, I'd be happy to let someone borrow mine for a while. :P

No, as far as I can tell there is not permanent negative. I believe you used to be able to equip it as a pet and that's why it has the negative modifier. As far as I can tell the only thing it's really used for is storyline stuff. But it's a big enough pain to get one that it's worth keeping one once you have it.

Quite a neat action card is available when you have a newspaper, I was able to interview Gravenous!

Sadly my newspaper was only considered fit for wrapping up rubbery lump suppers.. you need LOTS of shadowy to have much success as a press baron.

Cat status update: Still accepting cats!
