OK,

I added Graven and Deon to followed people on Twitter. Deon, you have an outstanding invitation to a sparring match, check your messages.

That's Install Planetary Overlord, not Initial Public Offering.

Thank you for the invitations!

For some reason those I follow on Twitter cannot be contacted for actions... Have you experienced this problem?

If it's giving you a message like "Mewko is somewhere beyond the reach of invitations: imprisoned, exiled, or worse...", this means the player has gone insane, dead, imprisoned and the likes, and generally will take a while to recover. Some of the people in the OP don't play at all, some log in once in a blue moon, so have that in mind, too.

If it's something else it might be worth to contact Failbetter games and explain the issue.

edit : Also screw you Numismatrix I needed those 11 appaling secrets! This better be good.

What a strange and beautiful world I beheld, but dangerous too, I was certain. And I was friendless and homeless. And so I prayed.
"Hear me, exalted spirits. Hear me be you gods or devils, ye who hold dominion here. I am a wizard without a home. I am a wanderer seeking refuge."

Has anyone else noticed that the daily 50-action limit seems to have disappeared with the move from echobazaar to fallenlondon?

The daily limit disappeared... a while ago. Months? Whenever the day of infinite actions was.

It hasn't been around since then.

So, I finally left Polythereme, and I have to say, it's not at all the grim place that was described by the snippets that we got to know of it earlier (which did make me a little dissapointed).

It alsot appears to be the best single grinding place in the game.

After you go through the initial gauntlet (which costs ~30 echos worth of goods and 12 actions for 25 echos in return), you get 1.2 echos when you don't have a appropriate card and just have to use a regular action, as well as 2.25 echos per action when you get the appropriate card, granting a average of something near 1.5-1.6 actions per echo. That said, it does require 125(?) Shadowy and/or persuasive to be done properly, in addition to which, a house which lets you hold 4 cards in your hand is a pretty big change (improving your chance of drawing a working card by up to 25%).

Congratulations on the new house by the way!

I assume your talking about the plant tournament?
If so, then yes I am.

Euld, I have totally avoided making that choice despite a watchful of WAY beyond university level. :P

Do you... actually NEED to make the choice to get anything else at this point?

Also, It appears that Ronald's plant is, indeed, the crappiest!

I am now level 2!

You need to make a choice to be able to go on a voyage of scientific discovery, as well as to start the glim sculptor storyline (a quest that gives you access to a fate locked questline involving the rubbery men and flute street).
That said, the changes are fairly minor, you as your desision marks the end of stuff to do at the university no matter what option you take (well there is still some minor stuff, but its really rather unimportant and irrelavent).
The big effect is that if you choose to frame the innocent person, you get two points of connected the masters (which is extremely rare and hard to get). If you choose to tell the truth, you won't be able to get Collated Research optimally (until you do a ton of work in the voyage of scientific discovery).

In other news, I finally completed the Case of The Fidgeting Writer.
In my latest run through I had only 10 deja vu's (the starting level result you get from tales of horror), despite that, I got extreme luck, not losing more then a average of 1 per stage, ending up with 1 Last Hope of a Fidgeting Writer (which I turned in for a night whisper), and two Lenses of Black Glass (one of which I traded for items, and the other one finished up the storyline for me).
Extremely lucky indeed.
So, on that run I got about ~500 echos worth of extremely rare goods (two of which can be gotten no other place, and two of which can only be gotten in a single place, and are almost impossible to get even then without using up hundreds of actions to make sure) for about 50 actions and ~50 echos worth of goods.
