So I've just started doing the "stuff for free fate" mini-game (I really want my sparkly magic walking stick, damn it!). It feels analagous to selling your soul to the devil.. or at least allowing your computer to get infested with crippleware. 56 Sage street seems to be an easy 3 fate and a surprisingly nifty little game for something on the Barclays bank website. I've also had success with the videos and one of the surveys. A bit wary of installing stuff, tried one and it stalled at 90%, god knows what evils it managed to unleash onto my poor machine...

Avoid most anything that requires you to install anything, it's mostly adware. The 'quizzes' are okay, you just have to click through a ton of pages of spam. The surveys are definitely the best, that I've found, you don't have to do anything but answer the questions, and they give 4 or 5 fate each (but there are only a couple a day that you can do, that I've found). I've been using Peanut Labs and Super Rewards for a while now, took me a while but now I've got it down what stuff is good and what stuff just plain sucks.

And don't do any of the ones that require you to sign up for a texting service thing, those are also usually subscriptions that they charge to your phone bill.

So I've figured out for certain exactly what city the third city was... and I have to say, I'm laughing at all the people who put in "south america", so close yet so far.

I also went to the shroom races. I recommend having stats near 50 before you go. It seems to be a good source of various trade currencies.

I've also picked up a singular plant. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

The horror! The dread! The torture! The three days spent without internet! Woe is me.

Thank god that's over and I can come back to spamming everybody with Suspicious Loitering and cats! Aren't you folks glad  :P

Also I'm pretty sure there are more people playing than I've recorded in the OP. That makes Graven angry! Come on, people, the only negative consequence is Glyph's box-spiders!

I just tried this out - I managed to win a race on my first attempt with an "in the lead" quality of 4. My modified stats are dangerous 44, watchful 50, persuasive 36, shadowy 22 - being able to choose the watchful and dangerous options most of the time was a great help, but I still had to be lucky to win. The reward was awesome, and included just what I was looking for,

Edit: won a second race, this time with lead quality 3, which seems to mean you win

So I've got the plant, and it's annoying me with having to spend moonpearls and stuff (yes, I know I have 1200 of them, it's a matter of principles), but I don't want to take my chances talking to it, especially since it says the odds are against me.

Can someone spoil what happens if I try to talk to it and fail, please? I don't want to lose it, but I'm curious.

I don't think there are any negative consequences. I failed several times before succeeding. On the other hand,

Wow, that was fast, thanks!

Guess I'll keep spoiling it. It's just such a cute idea :>

On the other hand I bet it's going to end in horrible Nightmares, as most things in Echo Bazaar are wont to do.

A maelstrom of scandal!

The stories told of your exploits have become too shocking, even for the nocturnal tastes of Fallen London. Your lodgings are daily besieged by journalists, Constables, and clergymen. Young ladies and gentlemen are lining up to claim that you have depraved and despoiled them. Certain other ladies and gentlemen are complaining bitterly because you haven't depraved and despoiled them. Your only recourse is to flee to a place where these things are considered unimportant, and wait for the scandal to subside.

There's only one place down here like that.

Heh I fell into that, I thought I'd be able to at least do a few quick church visits and get it below the danger level - but I guess it checked *before* you go home - ooops :D

It's not so bad though, it didn't take THAT long to get out....

The shroom races brought all my levels to crazy high, so I'm going to just let my levels overflow so I can get them all down fast, it won't be too long. If you need any of your menaces lowered, just send me some requests, I don't mind :)
