The Scuttering Squad from the Rat of Glory. It seems to good to be true. Does the SS go away at some point? I read there are penalty cards for owning it. Just seems strange to hand players one of the stat-iest pets in the game for free. Kind of >< because I just spent two days grinding Ancient Mysteries so I could acquire a Rattus Faber Bandit Chief.

Tell me about it. I feel kinda bad for having gotten my Devious Raven Adviser all of 2-3 days ago to see her obsoleted - but in that case I'm sure she's fine with it, because this just means more free time to scheme, and more underlings to scheme with...

Looks like you get stuck with a couple undiscardable opportunity cards for owning either the Midnight Matriarch or the Scuttering Squad. Regardless of which choice you take, you get Nightmares. One choice costs you a ton of Ratty Concerns, the other just sticks it to you. I think I'm just going to sit on my Rat of Glory for a while. I'd rather have an excuse for multiple pets that have one go-to pet for everything.

Meh, as a proud owner of multiple eyeless skulls for about two months now, I fear detrimental opportunity cards - so long as they're merely undiscardable, and not autoplay - have come to hold far less dread for me than they probably should. They're a pain, but you learn how to live with (and without) them fairly quickly. And my lovely new quarters in the Western Tower will help, too, though in the first day since I moved in, I've already gotten as high as three* undiscardables at once... <sigh>

*Okay, technically I hit four, but one was just the Merry Gentleman, and he hardly counts. That's at worst a wasted action.

I must say I like the new kinder and gentler notability acquisition process, though I'd've liked it even more had it gone into effect about a day sooner. This makes me almost as happy as their decision to keep the double-sized candles. Okay, perhaps not that happy. But still, it's quite lovely.

As in for reporting purposes? I consider Dangerous mine, but all my stats are pretty high at this point so I can help with any Watchful stuff you may need.

No, looks like you can take a mentor (an action at your lodgings) and it makes stat increases easier for the relevant stat the tutelary is based on. I've generally got Shadowy and Dangerous covered, and seem to do a lot of Persuasive. Watchful is the one that tends to lapse behind. (And is currently the one I need to raise to start on PoSI.)

I think? they just added this. Because it unlocks with all 4 stats at 10....something I've had done for months now.

Well, if the option shows back up, Watchful is far and away my highest stat. I am currently despairing that it's not even higher than it is, even though it's more than half-again higher than all the rest, and has boosters as good as any other. Although I shouldn't be despairing, as my reason for doing so is falling a bit short of being able to study certain ten-pound lead slabs in order to be able to acquire more lucrative employment - and I'm a bit less Notable than I need to be to do that anyway, and Slowcakes never comes around any more...

[edit: and having seen your comment about a mentor option in Lodgings, I just went poking around there and saw the "invite Slowcakes for free" option. So I suppose I must thank you for making me feel like an ignorant buffoon, although I'll admit I wish you'd have made me feel like a fool yesterday, before I accidentally got swept off into the Mirror Marches and lost the Unsigned Letter I'd been hoarding...]

So apparently Seek A Patron is only for characters with all 4 skills > 10 AND no skill > 100. I wish it said that on the storylet. There's lots of things I've seen based on my current stats that later disappear when I'm juggling stuff around, and it'd be helpful to know why these things are disappearing. I don't think exposing the explicit level ranges in the content to players would necessarily hurt anything.

And E. Albright, I've made your Acquaintance but I think Seek A Patron might be slightly broken right now. It says all my contacts Need Quality but as far as I can tell, most qualify. Unless there is a specific quality "An Extraordinary Mind" you need?

It appears to be a recent addition, yes. I've not been Significant long, but I recall a lull between my increase in Importance and my first seeing the specialization storylets.
