Goddamnit, I'm pretty sure I missed the one aqcuiantance, the regretful soldier, and that there's no way to get him now. ARGH.

Stupid schitzo reputation makes all of these friends things impossible except the one with society/masters/church. Need some more church for that though.

Though I might go for the urchin/tomb colonist/rubberyman one - they are all pretty close, and it means I don't have to deal with the damn churchies. Better flavour too.

Meanwhile I dropped 200 echoes buying clothes to get some points via the other one in the meantime. :/ Such a waste.

Heh. I'm at a step where I need a ton of candles to make a funeral candle or something like that. So I've taken a break from that storyline and have opened a newspaper. My friends, I would like to present to you, The Fallen Lighthouse. A paper of considerable integrity, I will most likely be interviewing some of you for stories once we get the printing presses fixed.

Hah, its nothing compared to The Drenched Stargazer, which will crush your new "newspaper" underfoot.

That said, newspapers (besides the +1 watchful and +1 persuasive they give you, which is very nice), aren't very useful, completing a edition doesn't give you as much as you would get if you grinded normally, and you can get journals of infamy easier using casing in the flit.


Also, I finally started my search for Mr. Eaten's name, I am fully aware it will be a long and dangerous path, but I must know the truth.

I am partway through the Person of Some Importance, but I succumbed to the lure of London Street Signs so I could get some of the pets and clothing I've been drooling at.

Speaking of which, my stash is running kind of low - I keep selling them off. It's nice to know I can always grab another batch of 20 with a little work in the flit though.

Street Sign Semi-Spoiler - well, they're nice because they sell for 2 Echoes 50 pence each, and you can trade Connected:Society for them at the Empress' Court and coincidentally you can *gain* Connected:Society pretty steadily right there too.  It took a couple days but I made 120 echoes so far, soon I'll blow it all on a shopping spree.  I might even see how much it'll take to buy that 4 card lodging that keeps coming up, and if it's not too awful just *buy* the stuff...

Thanks to two different storylets, I can obtain 800~ rostygold pretty fast and exchange every 1000 of it for 1000 whispered secrets.  My goal is 80,000 whispered secrets for the house in the bazaar.  Totally unnecessary?  Probably.  Too much effort for a minor thing?  Very likely.  Will I level up halfway through and lose my source of income?  Could easily strike at any time.  I SHALL DO IT ANYWAY!

God. Plants. It is just SO GOD DAMNED SLOW to upgrade it to the next level in bits and pieces, and costs so many candles and secrets... I've been on this level forever...

Hm. Apparently one of the wins put me at the second level of the competition. Unfortunately nobody else on my list is at this level. It is settled then. Baruk. Lemon10. You must fight to the death so I can trounce you again!

EDIT: I just found a really interesting storyline, one that more then anything I envision will make me rage.
Its called The Case of the Fidgeting Writer, and to start you have to sacrifice a tale of terror.
Every single level you have two choices, try to succeed on a luck challenge (which is at fairly good odds) and sacrifice a echos worth of good whether you fail or not OR turn in your progress so far for some stuff from the bazaar (ranging from fairly good to excellent depending on what step your on).
If you fail in the challenge then you go right back to the start.

I have now plowed several days worth of actions into this. I haven't crunched the numbers, but I'm sure it must be worth it..
I'm already planning to purchase quarters at the Royal Bethlehem with the proceeds (you can get a couple of antique mysteries if you make it about four steps along). It's a cheap way of amassing collated research, at the very least.

2 days after my access to the house of chimes expired, meaning my access to his storyline is cut off. :*(

Once I reach level 9 with my plant does progression... speed up a bit? Because quite frankly this is bloody absurd.

No, it took me a few months at level 9 before getting to level 10. The one thing I suggest is never take the orchid grower's card and think 'well maybe I'll get lucky'. I could have probably saved myself at least a month or two of grinding it if I hadn't wasted my progress by having that card take it away. I think of all the storylines that's probably the one that fate actually makes a huge difference. Of course, once you reach level 10 it comes to a screeching halt unless you know a lot of people with orchids themselves.

I am pretty sure that its not actually worth it in echo terms.
I mean the story is extremely interesting, and you get a pretty great reward, but I think that sucsess is so rare, combined with the goods you have to sacrifice all the time that it is only really worth it if you have done all the regular content.
