A couple of not particularly spoilerish tips you probably already figured out:
1. Many storylets have a choice between Straightforward and Almost Impossible challenges. Game the system by trying the Almost Impossible challenge first when you have the appropriate second chance available, before switching to the easy option if you fail.
2. The cards you draw seem to be influenced by your current location eg. there are certain cards which only turn up when you're in Ladybones Road.

Pretty sure the location thing is correct, it explains why you get the special ocean cards in the Unterzee on your boat (err, I read some spoilers), and get the special state of some confusion cards, as well.

Can someone tell me how much Appalling Secrets sell for in the bazaar? It'd be appreciated.

Appalling secrets are worth 15 pence.
No making money from that 500 Clues -> Secrets then, although you can't buy secrets so I might need 'em later..

Also, nightcircus.co.uk is another very similar game by the same people...it's much smaller, and an ad for a book by the same name, but it's decent. And you don't have to wait 24 hours or have actions, just wait for cards to refresh.

"Black as a spirifer's heart
Who made this storylet?
@alexiskennedy made me.

A velvety black cat struggles free of the wrappings. It blinks at you. 'About time. Well, we move as the game wills. Here -'
It whispers something to you, and the room spins about you. When you steady yourself, it's quite gone. "

Hey, Glyph finally stopped resending me sorrow spiders!

Also yes, you can have as many lodgings as you want - I, what with my incredible ability to stand by my choice, got both possible lodgings and can swap freely between them.

How long does the ambition thing go on for? Been doing it, made a lot of progress at least..
And what do I get at the end? Is it even worth doing?

Also, what's in the House of Chimes that only Exceptional Friends can enter? Just out of curiosity.

Ambitions go on for... well, I haven't reached the end of my ambition yet. The next step on my ambition I need... well, put it this way; with a Watchful quality of 102 it's still an Almost Impossible challenge for me. I think the idea is once the game is 100% complete the ambitions will take you from the very beginning to the very end. Then you can start over, which is why resetting the ambition costs so much. It's basically unlocking a major plot line. For reference my ambition is at step 39.

Ooh, I get it now. Thanks.
Doing pretty well so far, at ~30 P, ~20 W, and "crap" D and S. I also have boatloads of stuff I've been saving up in my inventory...I can't bring myself to sell any of it..after all, if I need it later like I did for those moon-pearls, I'd end up losing 4 echoes or something (counting echoes made from selling them) rebuying the 200 of them I used.

I'm at:
Shadowy: 37 (+2)
Dangerous: 35 (+5)
Watchful: 27 (+1)
Persuasive: 18 (+1)

The pluses are the bonuses I've got when, you know, actually trying, thanks to equipment. My current awesome ambition reward gives +3 dangerous, which is very nice.

"The Starveling Cat! The Starveling Cat!
Who made this storylet?
@alexiskennedy made me.

They put it in a box! And it hated that! The Starveling Cat bursts out of the box in an avalanche of shredded brown paper. It leaps at your face, fangs bared. You fight it off frantically, sustaining a series of savage cuts. It drops to the floor and snarls like a tiger. Then it climbs your armoire, claws gouging the varnish, and glares at you. It doesn't move until midnight, when it steals into your pantry and wolfs down an entire joint of beef. "

I read about the cat in one of the sidebar echo-letts. Sounded scary.
Guess it is.

Graven! This is what I've been waiting for! I knew if I wrapped up enough spiders and sent them to you they'd eventually mix up our packages with someone else's and send you the Starveling Cat!

I'm not exactly sure what it's good for (aside from getting rid of a rat infestation with a single action), but I'm sure it will be incredibly important later on. Lucky bastard! Proud owner holder person who has the Starveling Cat living on their armoire! You owe me big time!

I just bought a key to a house for 6000 whispered secrets... which I had to buy at 2p per secret. So 120 Echoes. :O Things start getting really expensive later on. Also, for anyone tip-toeing around certain skills: you'll eventually end up using them all anyway, so if you get bored with your ambition you won't be wasting your time working on your other skills. :)

Yeah, I realized the same and am now at :
Watchful 36
Shadowy 39
Dangerous 39 (mostly from the freaking rat infestation; god DAMN 2300 rats on a string)
Persuasive 34

I just now continued my Ambition, because I got an opportunity card that got me one-time docks entry.
