There is also a nice, free UI for Dosbox, called D-Fend Reloaded, which I use to run SP, it's just drag&drop into the UI and the game gets set up.

World War III Scenario UN-UPDATE

I'm afraid the new scenario will not be released in the time frame I originally planned. For starters, the unavoidable US demotion to second best causes too many bugs. And it is now obvious to me I had created a "Kobayashi Maru" scenario. In fact a player has better odds at beating the "Kobayashi Maru" scenario without the adjustments made by Captain Kirk then being able to beat this scenario. So I have decided to temporary postpone the release of the scenario so I can make some modifications and restart the test play.

Edit:Okay scratch the maybe. I am definitely going to be taking an indefinite break from Shadow President. I have marked most of my previous posts for deletion as they are now meaningless--the changes I will likely need to make will no doubt conflict with those posts.

Due to the un-update of the WW3 scenario, I am rebooting this LP here and now, using a rather interesting saved game.

Iraq took Kuwait, there wasn't much I could really do about it, so I assisted them with 5000 troops. I cut off all aid to Kuwait and instead sent it to Iraq. Also, fundamentalist Islam starts to become a major power. Eventually they wanted to take Saudi Arabia. I assisted, they took it within a week. The USSR didn't take kindly to this, and decided to nuke Saudi Arabia, causing China to nuke the USSR, then the USSR to nuke China, then France AND China nuking the USSR, USSR nuking China again, then finally, the UK, France, and China nuking the USSR while I back Turkey's invasion. Turkey takes the ruins that were once the Soviet Union.

Eventually, the radiation started spreading throughout the world. Then France had an AI screwup and nuked the Soviets again. Most of the world became irradiated.  Centralism becomes a major ideology, almost replacing capitalism several times. Eventually, Iraq tries to invade Egypt. I begin to get tired of having to deal with the mess that Iraq makes, so I invade. The war goes on for about three months before Iraq finally surrenders. Centralism partially collapses, but still remains the main competing ideology to capitalism, nationalism is extremely widespread, and I fear that the world may be ripe for Fascism.  Eventually, Turkey starts being a pain to everyone, so I invade them. This was a very, VERY bad move. It lowered my leadership effectiveness to 15, made popularity take a nosedive to 23, and released the now rebuilded USSR. The USSR's government was overthrown by some nation (probably me, coming to think about it) and became the leader of the centralist bloc. The nationalists have the most troops, also the least irradiated cities, and the centralists and capitalists have the nukes, causing a three way cold war.
Also, the Imperialst bloc is rapidly expanding, but that's another story.

I can tell China got nuked pretty hard considering their nuclear capability has been reduced from World Reach to Regional. You should just do a unilateral troop withdrawal from the Middle East and Asia--leave them to their radioactive fate.
