Leave Nationalism alone for now; we want the world war to end soon, and with America the only superpower left we may be able to peacefully convert all the Nationalist states to our ideology. I doubt it, but we could at least avoid another World War.

Victory Over Soviet Union! That's right, one year to the day after the USSR started World War III by invading Japan, the United States and its allies have forced the unconditional surrender of the Soviet Union. At last Communism is no more! And the good news is is that nuclear weapons were not used at all. Now I will focus on taking down Centralist China and the other few Centralist states remaining in southern Asia and the Pacific.

Another Note: There is a reason I was able to deploy troops into the Soviet Union so easily just after defeating them. In the final week of the war, I sent Jason Bourne into the Soviet Union to assassinate their leaders until my national security adviser rated the Soviets as "Cooperation". It took 3 successful assassinations to pull that off.

Very bad news people. After seeing that I had fatally screwed up at some point after having defeated the Soviet Union, I ended up discarding all saved games made after the defeat of the Soviet Union. I am now at the point where the Allies have just invaded China and the Soviet Union is about to surrender. The previous post regarding Victory Over China has been blotted out.

Okay, in light of what just happened, I feel I should post a warning to all Shadow President players on what NOT to do in Shadow President. When you occupy the Soviet Union, Quality of Life tends to drop to a lower point, as low as 50's to lower 70's. The first temptation a person will have is to grant the vanquished Soviets MFN status and try to up the Soviet Quality of Life in hopes that it will cause U.S. Quality of Life to go up. I tell you now, that that is not the case. Such action will not only not help improve U.S. Quality of Life, it will also backfire drastically. In my latest game, I got Soviet Quality of Life up to 80% however mine remained stuck at 57%. So I performed a little test by giving the Soviets a new Government. And that is when the you-know-what hit the fan economically. My projected GNP growth was suddenly worse then -25%. plus my money fallen to over $2,500 in the hole. Not even the China-America nuclear conflict in my other game caused that much damage. In my efforts to improve myself, I set myself up for the Second Great Depression. So I was forced remove all my work from after the point just before I gave the Soviets MFN status. The most anyone should do with the USSR is fix their peace level and use a couple social reform talks just to get concern for government down to level in which spontaneous ideology change is unlikely. Giving the Soviets MFN status, fixing their Quality of Life, and improving their police state level likely shouldn't be done until after you establish a new government.
