On the subject of disable elections...

I think it is time to lose. Three terms is a good long run, might as well go out with a bang.

Ok, I need assistance. I have no idea what to do to save the current game from populalarity ELECTION-death. There aren't any targets to surgical strike that would help me, military spending discouragements will not work, due to the extremely high military spending we have, peace agreements simply don't work and the elections are coming up. I think it's time for a poll.

Gah, why the fuck did I write voting instead of elections?

Have you tried dropping taxes, rocketing social security and healthcare, and raising tarriffs to the point where the country is virtually isolationist?  These tend to be popular short-term measures.

I've tried. It won't kick in before the elections.

I certainly wouldn't set all Eastern European countries as the same bloc.  Some held onto their Soviet connections far longer than others, while some were far quicker to seek Western acceptance.  Note that only about half of the Eastern European countries are part of the EU even today, which in my mind is clearly a "German-led Capitalist Bloc", although Germany seriously plays down its role due to world fears of Germany trying to take over the world again.
Okay, here is what I have so far for Eastern Europe.

Communist: Poland, Czechoslovakia, & Hungary.
Fascist: Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, & Romania.
Socialist: Albania

Also, the aftermath of World War III has caused massive changes of power, mainly in Africa & South America. Fascism has taken hold in countries like Zaire, Libya, Togo, Rwanda, Chile, etc.

Does anyone know how to use UGE to edit the troop deployments?

World Team Alliance:
Imperialist Bloc: U.S.A.
Communist Bloc: Soviet
Capitalist Bloc: Germany
Socialist Bloc: France

Try Social Reform talks. Even if the stats of Israel & Gaza Strip are perfect, do the talks anyway.

In that case, do you have a save early enough that they will?  Savescumming feels less bad than turning off elections.  =/

Well, just got this game. So I do what any sane Bay12er would do.

I invade Mexico. I go right from 50% to 33%. Whoops. Looks like the SU is ticked at me. All the sudden the UK decides to be a bitch to the SU and assist me in invading Mexico.

I sent in 15000 soldiers...
UK sent 1500

Mexico had 14000 soldiers
SU sent in 3000

I didnt think this out very well...

Communist: Poland, Czechoslovakia, & Hungary.
Fascist: Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, & Romania.
Socialist: Albania

I'd probably flip Yugoslavia and Poland around. Yugoslavia had one of the more milder communist regimes since they were not completely under the Soviet Union's thumb (it's complicated and I make no claims that I understand it). Poland, on the other hand, chafed under communist rule. And before that they chafed under Russian (and Prussian and Austrian) rule. Long story short, no love is lost between Poland and Russia. Unless the Soviets pull the same crap they did after
WWII, Poland is much more likely to turn Fascist than Communist.

Also, what about the Ukraine? Or Lithuania? Or all of those other Baltic countries whose names I always forget? (Uh, Estonia, Belgrade... uh... Finland? Does Finland count?)

I don't think any of the countries that were SSR's (Soviet Socialist Republics), at least the ones that directly border Russia, are represented in the game, thus there's no Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Estonia, etc. There is a Finland however, since they historically maintained independence from the Russians.

It would be cool if those SSR's could break off of the USSR though.

That all relies on whether or not you can mod the actual map to be different.

Since the Soviets did have a large number of troops in Poland and the U.S. had unilaterally withdrawn from mainland Europe, Poland really had no choice in the matter. As for Yugoslavia, the Fascist government represents Slobodan Milošević having taken over the Yugoslav government after the previous leader fell victim to nuclear fallout. (Nuclear fallout had reached the whole world--In just Australia which was pretty far from the nuked countries, 3 million people died). Milošević was more fascist then communist due to his treatments of other ethnic groups in real life, such as the Albanians.

Lots of progress has been made on my post-apocalyptic scenario. I pretty much have the ideologies and WTA setup squared away. I still have to figure out how to program events as well as troop deployments however I can still zip up all files to a particular saved game and email them to fellow Shadow President players. I have posted a brief background to the scenario as well as several ingame screenshots.

Scenario Background:
August 2, 1990: Iraq invades Kuwait. Despite US threats of military & nuclear retaliation, Saddam does not back down. The United States hits Iraq with ten nuclear missiles, then invades. Turkey invades as well and before the day is over, Iraq is defeated and taken over by Turkey. Sadly the victory celebrations are cut short when China launches a full scale nuclear attack on the United States.
August 3, 1990: The United Kingdom and United States each launches a nuclear attack on China, crippling the communist regime and reducing their nuclear abilities from World Reach to Regional.
Rest of 1990: The world is in total anarchy from the recent nuclear strikes. United States unilaterally withdraws all troops from Europe and launches a new campaign to take over all North America. After the Soviet Union somehow left the Soviet WTA despite still being communist, the U.S. was able to launch dozens of surgical strikes which wipe out their nuclear spending.
Start of 1991: With the U.S. military out of Europe, the Soviet Union re-establishes communist governments in several Eastern European countries. Fascism and Fundamental Islam are on the rise. In Ireland, a pro-IRA socialist government assumes control and are already at odds with Great Britain over control of North Ireland. The United States has abandoned Capitalism and have made Imperialism an official part of their foreign policy. Germany assumes America's former role as leader of the Capitalist world.
