this games fun but i have a few questions...how can i find/make more scenarios? it has open spaces suggesting i can create my own perhaps?

also, how in the world do i successfully invade the soviets?

started the resorce war by fixing my economy/giving trade statuses out and then trying to make friends with china. After a while, i helped back up pakistan against india, then invaded india and took over. took over china, who was backed by russia. In some kind of hularious punishment for being a failure, the soviets nuked china(lol wtf seriously) then china nuked russia. so naturally i take things while they're for the taking and position my troops around crippled russia. with troops numbering 1500k US and 600,000USSR(with soooo many more fit for war) i should have won right? but no, instant surrender on my part. i didn't hit the surrender button, wtf?

Bug or what?
This happened with me and Iraq.

I have a 10 to 1 advantage, spend almost 10,000$ more on each soldier, and have almost all of Turkey backing me up, yet I insta-surrender to those darnable Iraqis....

Actually you may have just pointed out my flaw. I've only spent 300m on defense this whole time, i'm sure the soviets place a good penny higher huh. To the budget room!

So, they nooked me right after loading the save(saw that coming but still) so i dono if i can afford to change my budget. i tried, even waited a few months, but budget didn;t seem to have any effect, if anything i lost faster.

so, this aside(because more than likely i'll just start a new game), how would i go about creating a new scenario or better yet where can i download some that other people have made?

Might be a bug, Angel's forces did that.  Just reload an earlier save (ideally right before declaring war) and try again.  From what I understand, this is the RNG equivalent of the Lord descending from the heavens and instructing your men to ceasefire immediately.

Yea i didn't save till after(never thought about saving, this was actually my first save :p). will be saving and having much longer games from now on, since i usualy play till i get bored. now i can play till i get bored multiple times :D

Since this game was made around 1990 (i.e. the Berlin Wall had only just fallen), I'm not sure there are any out there.  It's a pretty obscure game.

There has to be a way to make them right? i can't find what file corresponds to them, other than a file that makes the text options for them.

Before I fight the Soviets, I typically will increase my military spending, usually by an additional 200-300. The following friendly territories can be used for a ground invasion of the Soviet Union: Svalbard, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, & Japan. Also, you can open up Diplomatic Ties with the Nationalist & Democratic Socialist states in Eastern Europe bordering the USSR in order to get them to temporary join the U.S. World Team Alliance. Also Couping Iran into Capitalist in 1990 is excellent in dealing with both the Soviet and Iraqi threats. For one, you have an extra spot to place your troops in 1991. Another bonus is the Iranian military which nearly rivals the Iraqi Republican Guard and would be very useful in invading the Soviet Union. Oh by the way, when you defeat the Soviet Union, your polls go up over 60-70%. Perhaps more. By the way, do not... I mean DO NOT spam surgical strikes on the Soviet Union in an effort to soften them up. Surgical strikes against the USSR tends to trigger a Soviet nuclear first strike. Also surgical striking a Soviet WTA member or any hostile state bordering the USSR will have the same result: a Soviet nuclear first strike. If you are going to surgical strike the Soviets, be sure to save first.

You are AWESOME :p
Here goes round 2...now with 100% more strategic saving.

Btw, any word on creating new scenarios?

Hmm... must be a flaw in the game. I think you can consider the Soviet team members friendly in the version in which you coupled them. Yeah, it would be a bad idea to attack them. By the way, if you run out of save game slots for Shadow President, you could just use the copy-paste feature to duplicate the entire Shadow President game folder and rename the duplicate so you can identify it.

If I am recalling correctly, on the next year the Soviet WTA will shift to the most powerful existing communist state if the USSR goes capitalist, unless that makes communism the third most powerful ideology. If that happens, then that ideology's strongest state creates its own WTA.

I recently downloaded Universal Game Editor which actually allows me to edits stuff on Shadow President, such as ideology, ownership, ethics, ambition, trade status, etc. This is quite useful in building new scenarios. I am in the process of making a post-apocalyptic scenario.

Background:
August 2, 1990: Iraq invades Kuwait. Despite US threats of military & nuclear retaliation, Saddam does not back down. The United States hits Iraq with ten nuclear missiles, then invades. Turkey invades as well and before the day is over, Iraq is defeated and taken over by Turkey. Sadly the victory celebrations are cut short when China launches a full scale nuclear attack on the United States.
August 3, 1990: The United Kingdom and United States each launches a nuclear attack on China, crippling the communist regime.
Rest of 1990: The world is in total anarchy from the recent nuclear strikes. In just the nuked countries, a total of over 1.1 billion people are dead. Many more deaths are likely occuring to the surrounding nations due to nuclear fallout. The United States invades Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, and much of the rest of North America in order to seize the resources of those countries (as well as to restore leadership effectiveness & bring polls up to more comfortable level. Mexico tries to invade the United States in an effort to stop the US Imperialist agenda but is beaten in short order.

Scenario Setup:
Communist Bloc: Soviet Union and other communist states.
Imperialist Bloc: The United States, United Kingdom, and their holdings. (Possibly South Korea as well)
Environmentalist Bloc: Super Power Germany and most former NATO countries in Europe.
Democratic Socialist(?) Bloc: France, their holdings, & other socialist(?) states.

Idea: Add Fundamentalist Bloc: All remaining Middle Eastern Counties (except Israel) join together in mutual defense against US aggression.

Now, it you wanted it to be REALLY authentic, you'd divide it up into Sunni and Shiite Fundamentalist Blocs, and set them up as arch-rivals.

Whether you go one or two blocs in the Middle East, their overall goal should be to have one member develop nuclear weapons.  Unlike what really happened (every country for itself), set up Middle Eastern countries in a bloc so that one country is the "Nuclear Researcher" and everyone else dumps tons aid onto that country.

And to be REALLY REALLY authentic, have France give them nuclear spending aid.   :P

Ok, so France never really gave anyone free nuclear aid, far as I know.  But French companies supply most of the nuclear equipment in the Middle East, and far from free.

I think the already existent ideology "Fundamental Islam" qualifies as your first suggestion. I was thinking adding Ultranationalist and set it as the ideology for the Soviet Union. Another new ideology I would like to add is Christian Theocracy and set it as the ideology for the United States just like in the movie: Escape from L.A.

Since I am new at this, I still have a lot to learn. For one, I still don't understand much of the code and only know what I do because of the key that I downloaded. I also need to figure out exactly how to program each ideology so that a nations stats are effected shortly after change of government. For example, when a state becomes Capitalist, its human rights go to totally free while when a state becomes communist, HR goes to "closed". I would like to find out exactly how Zionism & Developing Capitalism are so friendly to Capitalism like they are.

What in the world would the Shiite Fundamentalist Bloc consist of? There's Iran, and....no, just Iran. That's it.
