I haven't heard that. It's also not on the list (not that it's in any way complete.)
But it is, by any definition, Abandonware. And downloading it helps preserve it for future generations (in a very small way).

Toady does not approve of abandonware. We should probably not discuss this further.

I think I started a nuclear war. Resource wars game, not even 100 days in I storm Mexico and stomp them into the dust. The Soviets had some men in there. After I took it, they NUKE MEXICO. I invaded with all my forces and then set up several surgical strikes, Japan also put 240,000 men into the war. As the battles are raging, India and China NUKE THE SOVIET UNION. I'll update later.

QUICKEDIT: SU returned fire with nukes against China and India.

EDIT2: After a few rounds of nuclear fire between those 3, my side SURRENDERS FOR NO GODDAMN REASON. I start the war again and take Japan in to help again. Bad idea. We won the war and THEY got the Soviet Union. Bastards!
Okay, just so you know, the Soviet Union nuking a country after it gets taken over is a rare and random event. That typically only happens when a country that some of their troops were defending falls. Before starting a war, you should save. Also wouldn't hurt to save another slot for right before demanding their surrender. By the way, there is a way to create more save game slots. What you do is close out Shadow President. You then use the copy-paste to duplicate the whole Shadow President folder.

I'd like to see a Shadow President-like game, but right after WWI. With the kind of madness that goes on with the AI, we may see the Kingdom of Hawaii conquer the whole planet, which would be hilarious.
LOL! That would be good to see. I am guessing you are from Hawaii?

I think Hawaii is the Ryukyu of the Victoria games (a nation so insignificant, and yet out of the way that leaving it alone will not affect history, so you can leave the game running for a few hours to see how the Major Power AIs fuck up the map. This is a popular pastime apparently. Who knew?). Maybe that's why it would be hilarious...

It has been almost four and a half months since the Soviet Union invaded my ally Japan. The CIA believes in about two weeks, the Soviets will stage a Coup in Israel. In response to a Chinese surgical strike on Taiwan, the US surgical struck China. The USSR surgical strikes the US for hitting China. The US surgical strikes the USSR. The USSR surgical strikes US. US surgical strikes China. USSR surgical strikes US.

Start of Conflict: May 1, 1995 -- Soviet Union Invades Japan. US, South Korea, & Taiwan defend Japan
Current Date: August 10, 1995 -- Soviets continue to try to take over Japan
Troops currently fighting:
Soviet Union WTA: Soviet Union--3,182,700
United States WTA: Japan--228,884 // South Korea--774,342 // Taiwan--468,551 // United States--1,500,000
Military Dead:
Soviet Union WTA: Soviet Union--352,341 (Will to fight--77%)
United States WTA: Japan--9,026 // South Korea--30,539 // Taiwan--18,482 // United States--42,827 (Will to fight--91%)

US troop numbers on Soviet border have reached 1,500,000, plus Finland, Sweden, Hungary, & Czechoslovakia have temporarily joined the U.S. WTA. Poland was couped into Capitalist, so they are on the U.S. WTA for good.

Right now, I am debating one what actions to take regarding the Soviet Union. From what I can tell, I have the following options:

1: Limit fighting solely to the defense of Japan until the Soviets back off.
2: Invade the Soviet Union now while continuing defense of Japan.
3: Continue defense of Japan and wait until the Soviets lose about 1/4 of their military, then invade USSR.
4: Continue defense of Japan and wait until the Soviets lose about 1/2 of their military, then invade USSR.
5: Continue defense of Japan and wait until the Soviets lose about 3/4 of their military, then invade USSR.
6: Invade both China & the Soviet Union.
7: Initiate Massive Retaliation against the Soviet Union by launching a Nuclear First Strike.
8: Withdraw all troops from the region and allow Soviets to conquer Japan. (NOT BLOODY LIKELY!)

I'd go with invading China and the Soviet Union. It's just a land war in Asia, what could possibly go wrong?

Nowhere even close. Florida! :P

That said, I like the Kingdom of Hawaii. They're almost unique in that they were a established, long-running nation who were perfectly capable of running themselves yet they decided to jump on board with the U.S. The Republic of Texas was the only real competitor for that title and they weren't a nation for more than... 2-3 years?

Besides, the idea of a 100% hawaiian army marching on the USSR appeals to me. I know they probably pretty much 1000% wouldn't to it, but a bunch of buff dudes in hula skirts and coconut bras stabbing commies in the face with stone spears? I would pay to see that movie.

That sounds good. Since I am able to keep my polls at an excellent level, it seems I could maintain my defense of Japan for quite some time. You think it would be better to invade now or wait until they lose a certain amount of their troops in Japan?

The Kingdom of Hawaii is in Victoria/Victoria 2. It is actually probably the single hardest nation in Victoria to play as, because they're industrialized, isolated, and have no technology. The USA can also instant-annex Hawaii if it ends up in their sphere of influence (and it usually does) regardless of whether or not you are playing it at the time.

It is probably the only nation that I've never seen taken to Great Power status in the Victoria games.

Most people likely said on Shadow President that it is very impossible to actually conquer the Soviet Union without nuclear weapons. I done so at least half a dozen times already. Sounds like the gaming company that made Victoria/Victoria 2 should give a mega prize to the person who can actually bring the Kingdom of Hawaii to Super Power status without modding the game in any way.

this games fun but i have a few questions...how can i find/make more scenarios? it has open spaces suggesting i can create my own perhaps?

also, how in the world do i successfully invade the soviets?

started the resorce war by fixing my economy/giving trade statuses out and then trying to make friends with china. After a while, i helped back up pakistan against india, then invaded india and took over. took over china, who was backed by russia. In some kind of hularious punishment for being a failure, the soviets nuked china(lol wtf seriously) then china nuked russia. so naturally i take things while they're for the taking and position my troops around crippled russia. with troops numbering 1500k US and 600,000USSR(with soooo many more fit for war) i should have won right? but no, instant surrender on my part. i didn't hit the surrender button, wtf?

Bug or what?

This happened with me and Iraq.

I have a 10 to 1 advantage, spend almost 10,000$ more on each soldier, and have almost all of Turkey backing me up, yet I insta-surrender to those darnable Iraqis....

Actually you may have just pointed out my flaw. I've only spent 300m on defense this whole time, i'm sure the soviets place a good penny higher huh. To the budget room!

Might be a bug, Angel's forces did that.  Just reload an earlier save (ideally right before declaring war) and try again.  From what I understand, this is the RNG equivalent of the Lord descending from the heavens and instructing your men to ceasefire immediately.
