Granting favorable trade status to the members of other alliances is a bad idea. It will always lower your leadership effectiveness and raise theirs.

You may take note that you currently have a police state of 2 while the Soviet Union has a police state of 3. Your repeated attempts at violence have turned the US into a restricted society.

The coup attempts are a bad idea unless your leadership effectiveness is very high and theirs is very low. You got extremely lucky with that first one. Doing them over and over again when they fail just makes the situation worse.

Ok, I believe there may be a fault in the AI. The Soviet Union is a restrictive police state, it says so in the filters. Why are they the most peaceful country ingame?
