Wow, I really wish I could play this game, that way I could sign up for a turn, a la Boatmurdered.
Why can't you play it?

Dosbox is f*cking confusing, although I'm sure a toddler would do a better job than me.  I don't wanna start a rant again, though, so I'll shut up now.

Put a shortcut of Dosbox in your Shadow President file. I rename my shortcut to "Shad", so I can find it easier. Drag the file SHADOW into the dosbox shortcut.

I placed the shadow.exe into the folder DOSBox-0.74.  Perhaps I should put the Shadow.exe into a particular folder?  I really don't know this stuff.  Just to make sure, I didn't put in the entire Shadow folder, only the .exe file where it asks me to write the last name of a president who said a particular quote.

...

*sigh*

Didn't I post how to run the game a while ago? Did you follow it through?

Download DOSBox, use the instructions from Abandonia.
Put Shadow President into the virtual C drive. If it doesn't come with a folder in the zip, create a folder named Shadow. Don't type anything more, DOSBox doesn't work with files or folders over 8 characters (likely because it has to emulate DOS, which has the same limit).
Now, start DOSBox. Enter the commands "CD shadow" then "shadow". Voila, it should play. When it asks to enter things, just press Enter and nothing else.
BAM! The game should work. For best results, press CTRL+F12 to raise the CPU Cycles so the game can calculate faster. I personally go with 10000.
Bolded the most important parts.

Yes but I have to make a C drive first, that's one of the parts that bugs me the most.  I type stuff like MOUNT C.  It then says I need to add something like Mount c d:\dosprogs ( dosprogs was the example ).  I still don't complete understand this.

You assign it ten thousand CPU cycles? Dear god man, I never go above four thousand!

....now I'm wondering how many cycles you'd have to assign to slow the other areas of your computer down.

I searched all the pages and... not once did I see a mention of "dosprogs".

*Sigh*

Step one: Create a folder that you would like to be your virtual C drive.
Step two: Place any DOS game in a sub-folder of that C drive.
Step three: Open the Dosbox folder.
Step four: Open dosbox.conf with a text editor.
Step five: Find "# Lines in this section will be run at startup." at the very bottom of the file.
Step six: Directly under the above line, type or copy:
mount C C:\*Location to the virtual C folder* -This informs DOSBox which folder is your virtual X drive. In this case, it's our virtual C drive.
mount D D:\ -t cdrom (or any other letter of your CD drive) -This informs DOSBox which folder is your virtual CD drive. This is not important right now, but you might as well copy it.
C: -This tells DOSBox to go to our virtual C drive.
CLS -This is completely optional: It clears the screen of the opening screen and the commands entered.

Is it clear? If not, what step isn't clear?

You assign it ten thousand CPU cycles? Dear god man, I never go above four thousand!
What's wrong with it? I highly suggest it! 3000 cycles is muuuuucccchhh slower than 10000. 10000 is about 1/2 second delay between action and loading. 3000 is about a full second. I'd imagine 4000 is similar.

mount c <path where your DOS games are>

For example, in my Windows system my DOS games are in C:\users\myname\dosgames, so I'd do it like mount c c:\users\myname\dosgames. In my Linux system, they're under /home/myname/dosgames, so I'd do it like mount c /home/myname/dosgames. It's not that hard.

All I do is drag the game into the Dosbox shortcut and it works.

Mount c c:\dosprogs\shadow\

c:

shadow

game runs

it only really gets annoying when games require you to install it to a separate drive and run it from another
