So our country become poor because we nuked someone several thousand miles away.

What kind of nukes are we using? Matter/Anti-matter Warheads? Tsar Bomba Sr? Graviton MIRVs?

Or was due to some massive economic blockade/restrictions that you didn't put pictures for? A quick peek showed that your QoL was still 100% for a fair amount of time after the drop.

This game was made back when out belief on nuclear fallout was rather extreme.

We were not affected by the fallout from the nukes. It affected all of the Middle East and most of Asia but not us. Our low QoL was gained by taking over countries with a low QoL.

That makes sense, QoL is averaged, so incorporating third world countries would lower it.

My Current Game

1990-1991: Iraq takes over Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, & Jordan. Soviet Union & Japan butt heads
1992: US helps Capitalists take over Iraq and all holdings. The United States allows Iraq to keep their gains and even helps them take over Iran.
1993: Second Korean War--North Korea, for some unknown reason, leaves the Soviet WTA but still remains Communist. The United States and South Korea invade North Korea and beats them after roughly 3 weeks.
1994: Soviet Union and Japan continues butting heads, provoking 3-4 US surgical strikes, which by some on heard of miracle does not trigger a nuclear strike. The Soviets helps Communist rebels take Tunisia.
1995: Soviet Union surgical strikes Israel, resulting in full trade embargo by the US.

The Third World War -- 1995

Despite two whole months of fighting the Soviets, I managed to keep my polls at decent levels. Currently focusing on the defense of Japan from the continuing Soviet attack while building up troops in areas bordering the Soviet Union and building an anti-Soviet Coalition among the Nationalist & Democratic Socialist countries. Also building up troops around other Communist states, such as China, Cuba, Guatemala, Tunisia, Vietnam, etc.

I'm still hoping to see a game where the US eliminates all of its enemies.

Well, what is your definition of conquered? Until 1993, most countries that turned Capitalist did so on their own, with the exception of Iraq and its holdings of course. Usually when I do fight, I make sure my ally has a few more troops then me to assure they take over whatever country we invaded.

Sorry, I was referring to AoD's campaign.  I'm just wondering if countries like Iraq  are like vassal states now.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It may be a while before an update. I'm trying to find out a way to prevent popularity death.

Communist crap!

Also, how do I un-occupy somewhere, and how do nations flip world teams? Can they?

I may or may not have invaded and conquered Cuba, with or without a reason. It's... actually not horrible. Their economy and their QoL have skyrocketed, and for some reason Mongolia has become interested in me.

But I want to give them their freedom back since they're draining my popularity, bigtime.

That's kind of why when I do invade a country overseas, I make sure my ally that invades with me has slightly more troops then me, that way when the war is over, the conquered country is annexed by my ally instead of me so that my QoL stays the same. For example, I helped Liberia take over Ivory Coast and Zaire take over Congo... both my allies had become Capitalist earlier. If I occupy a superpower such as the Soviet Union (I have done it before--without nukes!), I maintain total control until the start of the new year, after which I will cut them loose, though I do keep a fair amount of troops in place in case the Chinese try to re-communize them. About the only countries I will keep after taking over them are those closest to me by geography, such as Mexico & Cuba. I been able to maintain 100% QoL with both states under my control. About the only problem with taking Mexico is my Defense guy walks out on me since Mexico is considered "Cooperation", so I have to wait until Russia becomes Nationalist or India become a superpower.
