This game is mind blowing. Mind. FREAKING. Blowing. Having never played The Elder Scrolls before, I was expecting Fallout. But it's so goddamn better.
Firstly, the visuals. Now I had to tune them down to make it playable on my computer, but the visuals are still stunning. For example, just after completing the "tutorial" I found myself quite high in the mountains, as dusk descended. When it became night, the sky suddenly lit up with the Aurora, and I looked down across the forests in the new light. It had to have been one of my top gaming moments and with the (amazing) soundtrack it was made even better.
Next, the size. Going onto the world map for the first time, I wasn't sure about the size, but as soon as you start moving you really see the scope. You can gaze at distant peaks that'll take you weeks in-game to travel to, and you can't move without stumbling upon something to kill. Whether you plan to stalk among the grass hunting deer, or run around killing everything you encounter, you can do anything in traditional Bethesda style.
Quests. Quests everywhere. You cannot go anywhere without managing to fill your miscellaneous section with endless people's requests. Whilst I was disappointed with some of the rewards given at the end (I mean, a lavender for christs sake?) the loot you get in the caves, hills and villages is enough to make up for that. On that note, there are countless items, ingredients, enchantments and books you can collect, and many of these can be used to create new things entirely, or improve the items you already have.
Finally, the NPCs. So. Many. Wandering the landscape for 5 minutes could reveal bandits, assassins, trolls, giants, mammoths, elk, eagles and maybe even dragons. The people who may talk to you look real enough, and also have varied voice acting enough to all seem individual.
ANYWAY, my ramble over, have fun playing it. (If you're not playing it, why? Get it. Now.)
