Yes, that is a sensible course of action. Money? Who needs it. Generals? Lets have three of them. What the hell do you need that many commanders for?

Not that I am complaining. This leaves Avitus broke (whilst Hugo, I'm sure, can find money somewhere). In other words, he will be helpless to combat the soon-to-be rampant crime in the city.

Ironically that very paranoia means that people will snatch any opportunity to get ahead, before it is lost and they are smacked back down to nothing.

I can dissolve the council, but then Avitus will shun me, Kathos will want to undermine me and Tala is just looking for an opening to slit my throat. And Pasha would probably piss on my corpse for a good measure.

as you see, we are all too deep in this to pull back now. All we have left is whatever meagre measure of trust there is between Nike and Laythe. After all, he is commited to serving her in all ways possible. He is honour-bound to do so, unlike others.
