Ugh, the only good game in that series was the first one... Raziel would just not STFU in either of his games (like I need a two minute cinema every minute; I know that's a save point, I know the Elder thing voiced by Frollo is manipulating you, I don't care), the first Soul Reaver had a lame ending, and the second had the most anticlimatic final boss gauntlet in history (WEEHEE I'M INVINCIBLE AND OVERPOWERED SO MY PAST HUMAN SELF DOESN'T STAND A CHANCE). I didn't even make it through the second Kain game and couldn't be bothered to to care about the crossover finale. No, the only good vampire is the one I'm using as my avatar right now.

On-topic, assuming I did restart and go the merchant route, where should I hail from? I'm thinking either being from Ligoria or Mileth so he have the 'OMGWTF happened while I was gone' reaction.

I like those games not becuase of the gameplay, which kinda sucked, but for  the story value. I played it like a movie.

So he would kill me for meeting with him, even though he doesn't know i'm a member of the Hatcur empire. I can wear gloves you know.
And if he does, all William needs to do is cut that bit of flesh off his hand with a knife. Which he would do if the Arctic Fox started giving him crap about it.

I can see and respect that opinion. Let me put it this way: I'm the kind of guy who did not like FFX because of all the interrupting cutscenes, and I buttonmash my way past every conversation in the MGS series... which I only play because the gameplay is legitimately fun. :3 In all honesty SR1 wasn't that bad gameplay-wise - when Raziel wasn't busy telling you 'look out the window. There's a window' - but I just hate being forced to sit and watch cutscenes telling me stuff I already know. Except for the ending that I disliked, I don't remember SR2 so much because I only rented/played through it once, but I played through SR1 a few times since I had it on Dreamcast. But yeah, that's my big gripe with games. Max Payne 1 got on my nerves for only having like ten enemies in a seven minute level; I have bullet time, I have an itchy trigger finger, I wanna use both but I can't 'cause there's only two mobsters and a ten minute narration in this stage. (._.)

I was under the impression that Arctic Fox, judging from his IC actions, doesn't really care about the DE since he knows he's been sent out here to die. Why would he hate on William and Retcyl?

Yeah..really. I mean they sent me out here to die. Why would you even remotely assume I'd hate the other Hatcuri empire?

Every one of them is effectively dead. The empire stopped caring about them, and paid off their families.. So I could probably make a reasonable case for them just serving me in my mad schemes.

Presumably they would know that everyone sent out on this sort of excursion before them has died and might not be feeling too loyal to the Empire either. If Arctic Fox can keep them alive they might actually feel more loyal to him than the DE, but I dunno. Maybe that should be rolled for once Terenos reveals his plans to his soldiers.

Now I kind of want to ditch Tristan right nao and have a new character who emerges from William's ranks to place in the tournament, although that would conflict with my other desire of being a merchant...
