The only person who is a good pick is Thunderblade. Tristan, Avitus, and Ite are all foreigners among other issues (Tristan is cold and calculating while Avitus and Ite are more scholars than rulers), Laythe is only Queen because she killed her entire family to get the throne, William is just as bad, Nikephoros only cares about training his troops, Hugo, Tala and the Hatcuri don't really have Ligoria's best interests in mind, Max is dead and Elfeater's replacement character is merely a merchant, the Arctic Fox is trying to overthrow it, so on... as stated, the only character who actually both gives a damn about and could reasonably rule the country is Kathos.

If she listened to them more often, William wouldn't have been exiled and this entire chain of events would have been avoided.
