Yeah. I'm not sure how detailed I need to be when submitting a character, though.

Lucius Grimewalde is a dispossessed merchant, who happened to be omitted when his father's inheritance had been partitioned. Not wanting to work as a mere administrator for his brother, he left for the Storm Coast. He views the entire region as a land of numerous opportunities and hopes to profit from numerous wars and skirmishes there. For example, selling arms or food rations for soldiers.

We do have a serious lack of merchants this time around. You seem to be aiming at it more as a means to an end rather than a career. Flesh it out a bit, make some reasonable demands and we'll see how it goes

As for important events, I'll give you a little run down

 

• Game starts. Retcyl, Kawakai, William, Kathos, Hugo, and Corv(?) arrive at Talama.
• Corv exiled from Talama and goes off to work as a mercenary at Galam.
• Another mercenary by the name of Max decides to protect a caravan as a living.
• Tala arrives.
• William, Tala, and Kathos are given estates around the city. Retcyl gets a inn which soon collapses due to Hugo.
• Everyone plots something.
• Retcyl goes out to tour the estates, meeting William again and Kathos. Solves a bandit problem in Kathos' lands. Also visits Tala's estate but doesn't find proof of treason.
• The Guildmaster(?) of The STTG reveals himself.
• Corv raids Shola while dressed as Ligorians.
• As Retcyl is in the country, Tala hosts a party dedicated to Hugo's art. During this time the Lord of Crows reveals himself and steals a painting.
• Kathos solves cropblight problem with herbalist.
• Hugo reconstructs the inn.
• Kawakai fights with someone and goes into coma.
• Retcyl arrives.
• Corv is killed.
• Hugo tries to capture Lord of Crows with bait, fails but gets a pet crow.
• Two bandit twins from the Dragon Empire go further south, readying an assault on a city.
• Max becomes a Peacekeeper of Moun.
• Avitus arrives at Talama (Ligoria's capital) and becomes the head diplomat. Tries to establish university, but fails.
• William leaves Ligoria and secures another estate after killing off (well the baron killed himself, but eh) the previous owner. Acquires a dragon/dinosaur skeleton. Kills off invaders.
• A general from the Dragon Empire leaves for the south.
• A mage by the name of Thomas Talboh joins William as a vassal/steward .
• Max gets imprisoned in Talama.
• Tala hosts Queen Laythe's birthday party.
• Retcyl is kidnapped.
• Retcyl rescued by Nikophoros. Had to promise to leave city.
• Retcyl finishes up deal with the Bleeding Fists, and gets a information network in Ligoria.
• A French guy arrives (SeriousConcentrate).
• William is exiled from Ligoria. A more proper term is slowed execution.
• William joins Hatcur.
• Kathos gets pissed with the Queen. Queen likes it.
• Max the Peacekeeper is killed by the Queen.
• A pirate-hunter appears off the Bay of Korlan.
• Karafs arrives at the Vale under orders from Retcyl.
• Vale is found by it's new owner, SeriousConcentrate (I can' remember name).
• Retcyl puts Hugo in charge of Embassy and leaves to look for an island.
• Vale evacuated.

Basically what happened.

Character detail: Well, enough that we know what you are going for. A two line summary is basically fine. Although a few questions arise:
-If he isn't from (this part) of the Storm Coast, where is he from? Further south, across the sea, what?
-Does your guy have any special skills or possessions of note?
-Were you looking to sail into port with your own ship and a fistful of ducats, or something else? I mean, what sort of starting resources do you want?
-Is your guy batshit crazy? If not, he might find himself out of place (this is about 66% joke)

I reckon I did a fairly good job with my summary of autumn. That should certainly help you get up to speed. Its in the Winter post, which is linked to from the first post.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. I got a regiment of my own men, but hardly any cash at all. I'm going to aks queen to pay me in the spring. I was promised pay, but I haven't seen any money for myself in an entire year and there is the project I want to start up.
As to more players: Always welcome. I see someone taking up my mantle of a merchant. Lets hope it won't devolve into a horrible mess like last time.

Please don't be mad.
You could start with almost anything if you can justify it. Also, balance lies not only in holdings; being a murderous crazy half-immortal nobleman should be worth a ducat or two, surely, and a scholar's wisdom cannot be measured in coin. A merchant has nothing but his ship and his wealth, so not giving him those would be... highly crippling.

It all balances out in the end, I like to think. Besides, its not like there are winners. Just interesting stories.

Seriously? 'Just' a regiment? I had two bodyguards an a bunch of books. I'll make my Vasiri (Vasirian?) nobility title a rank higher just cause I missed an opportunity to get loads of money at the start

All right. Here's the updated summary, then:

Lucius Grimewalde was born in the city of Nalin, far across the sea. His father was quite successful cloth merchant with several ships and a quite large savings. Unfortunately, he ruled his little cloth empire with an iron fist. While Lucius's elder brother was quite content with that, the younger Grimewalde was frequently at odds with his parent. The event when he slept with his brother's wife didn't help him too.

The old merchant decided to split most of his possessions between his elder son Kalat and his son-in-law Gustav, leaving Lucius with a bit of ducats to prevent him from living in poverty. He expected him to work for his brother (whom he view as more responsible) or start his own business under his guidance. Lucius, however, was outraged after he had learned about his father's last will. He refused the job his brother offered him, took all his money and sailed north, instead.

After reaching the Storm Coast, he plans to invest the money and build his own merchant empire, which could outshine his father's. He has no qualms about investing in riskier ventures, which his family have shunned. Now he are going to show Kalat, that it was him who was a fool this entire time.

You seem to be aiming at it more as a means to an end rather than a career.

Actually, it's a career, because Lucius doesn't know much about anything other than being a merchant.

Does your guy have any special skills or possessions of note?

Lucius is learned in bookkeeping and managing a small trade office, because that's what he did. He also knows a lot about cloth and its possible uses.

That would be probably money and a small merchant ship which he bought.

Not very much. He may be somewhat too ambitious and impatient, preferring quick and risky ventures over more steady ones.
