Then again, you know how to use throwing knives, or a blowpipe, or whatever, and you can achieve the same effect without a ridiculously expensive piece of unreliable technology.
Also, sure, you can kill him. But even if you didn't use a sword, you still killed him, during a truce. That's not going to earn you many brownie points, methinks.

He's a diplomat, so he could grant you political asylum from being executed, assuming its recognized by the Queen, and that Hactur really cares if you die or not. You would have to be banished to the Hacturi embassy to remain in Ligoria, though, again assuming that the Queen allows it.

Of course, all this is a bit difficult to negotiate at halberd point.
