I'm thinking I could approach Hugo and Kawakai in the 'cheap drinking hole' up the road, where my character has gotten himself a room in. Time for me to get actually playing, not just write lenghty posts about thrilling escapes and near-deaths (which I doubt anyone actually read - not that I can blame them).

Does this sound okay about why lonemine became a independent state?

He is rumored to have had a hand in the murder of Saint Kara the Beloved, which turned Eric against him, forcing him to secede from the Holy Elberthian Empire to preserve his own life. After many lengthy battle-where Kain fought in the front lines-he later met with the king. He returned from the meeting bleeding from a stab wound, but a grudging peace was declared. But Lonemine did not rejoin with the Empire and prospered when it eventually collapsed.

I read it, and i think i'm going to hed back to the city to get aquinted with the city as well- get drunk in that cheap dive.

Well, I can't speak for ashton, but if Kawakai isn't there, Hugo will be. Painting, I think. Poor man has been so busy these past weeks, he hasn't had time to get any painting done D:

I never said beloved by whom.The cyclics just named her a saint to get more support or something becuase she was the sister of the king and died an early death.

Oh, right. Could have sworn it was size three. Either way, no reason to get contact some musty old guild when there's a local bank to lend you money.

I know those loans were for guildmembers only. And even if it wasn't, they don't exactly have anywhere for you to get the loan in Talama...

Alright I'll go to the bank then, that does seem a bit squiffy though.

The Trade credit is for members only. The enforcement of the loans is a lot more forgiving though because members also pay dues. Tari's functions as a state run trade guild, but primarily as a bank. But any -player- can give out a loan on their own terms as well. As a size 4 the business can give out a loan, but i'd be avoiding it for now anyway. Any extention of loan outside the guild would likely upset the guild heads.

Also: The SCTG doesn't maintain a presence in Ligoria

I read it, I might even help you look for that sword at some point. And my gal will probably be at the "HQ" after what I guess has been a couple of weeks tramping around town now, though you probably won't see me there until the late evening/night. Unless absorbed in some kind of project my character is generally the exploring type.

You'd first need the crossbow technology (which would also let you raise archer units with access to Low Quality Lumber and Iron rather than HQ Lumber)

Also: Where are you getting the iron resource?
