Who said we were going to play one? If we are a city state, there will be basically one noble per faction. Things change in a century. City states can become kingdoms.

Not necessarily. There could be rival families inside a city state each with different goals. And yeah, not all city-states have to be republics.

The only city-states we know that are republics are Groaning and Deraso, if that's canon. And if Fili is still working on the game.

Maybe we could for a Dragon Age: Origins 2 style thing, and have it all primarily centered around ONE city-state and the surrounding country side? Or only TWO city-states and their surrounding country-sides or something?

Pretty much. I was going to exploit that infighting with my hatcuri guy, but most people seem to want to each rule a different city-state.

As much as I would like it for people to be more focused in a few cities, I don't want a 1 city setting.

Thatkid described exactly what I'm aiming for.

One or Two big cities with families fighting for control, the surround farmlands/mines or whatever having tiny villa's that work as home bases for the families.

Not one or two big cities. I think three is a minimum, because a faction attacking another while fearing the backstab of the third country is more awesome than simply two factions hitting on each other until one wins.
