I was gonna play a mercenary for my next character, but I'm not sure if I will if we're going renaissance.

Understandable, but really you don't need to use guns and such to be effective. Gurkhas didn't use them and everyone recognises that their some of the bests soldiers in the world.


EDIT: Are you saying your not going to play, or that you aren't going to play a mercenary?

I've been around a lot longer then a lot of you, but most of my time was spent lurking, posting shitty stories that i didn't update or something.

I'm fine with moving to the gunpowder reneissance. With regard to the rules and settings though, lets not mess about, let people play what they want to play, as we do already. We move to storm coast and such, but if people want to play mercs and knights, I'm okay with it. I might play a mercenary captain of a tercio regiment orr something myself.

Also, king of weasels, please resist the urge to put yourself into the head GM position please, we haven't decided yet who should do that.

Why the fuck would I want the head GM position?  I might not have a job, and tons of spare time, but I don't want to have to write out events for people, good god I don't even like writing for my own guy.

Also the setting would HAVE to be different, because it takes place in the storm coast which is run by small city states instead of large kingdoms.

So do we have any  candidates for GM yet? The only ones I think are really capable...are all busy. Everyone else(me included) have flaws.

Perhaps we can have 2 HGMs?

So, let's see... The game will be:

-100 years in the future
-In the storm coast, but not near Elbreth
-At the beginning of the renaissance era
-Will probably have the name of Tales of Iitu: The Storm Coast

Now, we've got to choose GMs... And after that, what else is needed?

Probably a few rule changes to account for the time-skip and technology. The trade stuff will need an update since some goods will be worth more while some will be worth less. Guns could also change combat significantly. But I think we just need a new unit for that.

The thing I never got about trade was that there were no NEEDS.  Like didn't someone purchase an entire ship of clams to trade someplace else?  What were all those people going to eat then?

I meant stuff like prices. Saltpeter is much more important than it would have been 100 years ago.

I think trade just needs some reworking. Back at the medieval/renaissance times, the richest merchants had about as much money as the lesser nobles. In this game, merchants can have more money than kingdoms in only a few years.
