Vimes is basically the best Discworld protagonist. :3 Nightwatch was pretty good, but I'm a fan of Thud too.

The lawyer is Mr Slant, of Slant, Morecombe and Honeydew (the other two partners are vampires, I believe).

Real life law firms have crazy names.  One of the big four corporate law firms has the brilliant name of Slaughter and May.  If I'd thought of it sooner, I might have created a lawyer character instead.  =B

The names are as follows:

• Lord Protector - Niko
• Lord Chancellor - Kathos
• The Council of State - the advisory council of Tala, Pasha and Hugo for now.
• Noble Assembly - what says on the tin.

The name for the country can be changed from kingdom to The Ligorian Commonwealth or The Serene Republic of Ligoria or The Noble Republic of Ligoria or Ligorian Republic... You get the feel. something slightly republicany but not too much and in connection with the renaissance.
