I'm cool with a season change as long as these latest actions are rolled -- it can be assumed that Terryn has gone into planning mode based off of whatever information he's acquired. (Assuming the merchants don't leave this season, in which case I guess I'd like a few more actions to put plans into motion on whichever path I choose)

Alright, I suppose I will be setting out from Preston (or Vesir, I remain unsure of how long it'd take to cover the distance) towards Polca on a merchant ship. As there is nothing else I can do while in a ship, I will just settle for having been meditating (training) for the whole season. Would that be acceptable? Also, I assume that, for balance purposes, I ought to start with no bonuses to any of my magic rolls, no?

The rules at the start of this thread are outdated (some are still used, but some have been changed). When you are reading rules, the ones at the beginning of the IC thread or the ones in the Wiki are safer to use. As for your question about starting with magic traits, it's simple: you have a budget of three ducats for your character. You can spend these ducats on a regiment, a boat, an with upgrade, or a trait. The regiment costs one ducat, the boat costs two, the upgrades cost the normal amount of money, and the trait costs one ducat. So, you can start pennyless and a +1 to all of your magic rolls (since that's three traits and you have three ducats).

If you decide that you do not need any of these things, you can start with three ducats, which is a large sum of money (Edit: for exemple, a Ligorian Baron gets four ducats every year from his lands).

Being a Hacturi Wizard means I've already spent 2 ducats, no? Or are these two traits only counted for the limit of three, having no monetary cost attached to them?
