Hey, hey. Relax. There's plenty of time left, people. I was just suggesting that, if everyone has done their stuff, we might possibly think about considering the option of maybe moving into autumn.

Traits... well, we haven't reached a complete conclusion on this, but its taking to long, so I unless CG has a problem with it, I am going to start taking and approving traits for generals.

Anyone who's character is a trained and experienced commander of men receives 1 trait. Anyone whose sole purpose is is commanding men receives 2 traits (or a single double strength trait). Further traits can be gained by exceptional prowess in battle and/or training.

Traits should be sensible, not overpowered, but otherwise whatever.

I think (roughly) balanced traits would have values along the lines of: +1 to total strength, +1 to tactics, +2 to tactics with condition (ie fighting in woods), +2 to total strength with condition (ie fighting on hills), roll to restore one unit per battle (+4 difficulty).

Make something up, explain why your character deserves it, and we'll call it ok. No more faffing about. if it turns out not to be balanced we can nerf it.

No. So, whilst I can accept that his background might supply him with enough experience to merit one trait, he cannot have two.

But hey, where's the fun in winning every roll? We're in, and that's a win in Liira's book (and having hordes of the unwashed masses jammed in a slum between the walls and the mega-rich city, watched over like hawks by oppressive guards,  could work out to my advantage!)

Regarding the discussion at hand- Sam leads from the back; she's only been in the business for a bit over a decade, and has no (serious) formal training, but she's essentially the dedicated tactician/strategist for the gang, and, since bandits spend much more time fighting than staying in barracks, has plenty of informal experience. Not sure if this would count for one or two traits.

Liira doesn't even have a formal education (much less as much leadership experience), but she always leads from the front, slicing people open with fierce enthusiasm, and improvising like crazy when she (inevitably) gets in over her head.

Ok, I want +1 to tactics and +1 to shock (attack?). Basically Nikephoros spent most of his life on war. He knows almost every trick in the book and knows how to strike, where and when. He is 37, so he is nearing the end of his prime, which means that he is balanced and level-headed leader. On the other hand he will have difficulty aquiring more bonuses( jut takes longer and more points), since he is nearing the end of his career( or so he thinks).

What you guys think? Acceptable?

HailFire, I would say you get at least one trait. I'm thinking both characters get a trait, but that they don't stack. And no splitting up and leading separate armies. In other words, you get versatility.
You don't get two traits because there's, you know, bandit organising involved with the job. A general has quartermasters and such to take care of things like supplies, and a sovereign to supply the money, whereas a bandit leader has to do that themselves.

Yeah, fine. I think maybe you could go up to +2 to attack, if you make the difficulty acquiring new traits a definite disadvantage.
Call it:
+1 to tactics
+2 to strength when attacking
-1 to earning new traits (however that works out)
