Stupid Armor Sizes
« on: August 14, 2011, 02:33:24 pm »

I find myself getting tired of the fact that each race has a different armor size, and if the armor isn't the right size, it won't work.

How can I change the races so that they all use the same size armor?

creature_standard.txt

Replace all instances of [BODY_SIZE:2:60000] with [BODY_SIZE:2:70000] or vice versa.

Bam. Everyone can wear any armor. Except kobolds.

Kobolds are considerably smaller than the other races, even dwarves. Dwarves, elves, and goblins are all the same size. Humans are slightly bigger but weaker on average than dwarves.

I don't know why nobody else has mentioned this, but bear in mind that changing the sizes of creatures has consequences. Larger creatures will be stronger, and be able to hold/use different weaponry. There really is no good solution for your original problem.

Solution: Make dwarves and company size 69500 and adjust weapon raws accordingly, while modifying the strength medians to compensate for the increased size.

Does strength have anything at all to do with what weapons are allowed, though? I don't think it does, but I could be wrong.

It doesn't. However, arena tests confirm that a size 69500 elf that punches a human to death will be able to take the human's armor. As long as you're ~500 grams away, you should be able to use a slightly smaller size for elves and dwarves, and thus limit the weapons they can carry.

Grams? Size is measured in milliliters.
