I think the Bay 12 games are things Vector should reserve for her slow times; and she is not slow now, and hasn't been for a while.

I plinked away an hour on Dwarf Fortress last Friday (5ds ago), and a few hours in the weeks before, but said fortress of circular towers and strait bridges (attempting to constrain how I deal with workshops and stockpiles) is a result of gaining access to a computer that can run the game (even with varied crashes at decreasing times) and wishing to contribute to a ~dead thread.
The majority of my "gaming" time is spent attempt to read everything of any note that is posted on these forums, including all links, articles, and referrenced books. The recent instability and slowness of my computer has made keeping up difficult, along with updating my massive book-list, and I have missed a great deal in the main blogging threads. I've followed most of Vectors seeds fairly well though, along with the political/news threads, DF development, a couple dozen forum games, many review threads, a few let's-plays, and for non-Bay12 a couple role-playing forums and a cooking forum.
Although, however little this may seem, I am still collecting far too many "open posts" where I started writting/researching a response to something, then reached some "writer's block" for it and immediately switched to something else, only to later return to find I've completely forgotten what I wanted to write. I should note I just barely avoided doing so here.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Vector started a progressive rage thread, she should LOVE Liberal Crime Squad... it's a true gem.

I keep waiting for the new release to come before I start it up again, because it's going to throw in so many new things that just won't be there in a world generated beforehand. Because it's going to be released shortly after I start if I don't keep waiting.

And waiting. .-.
Same here.

What if I play other Bay12 games regularly, but not DF? xD

There's just a 'Never played DF, but played other games'. I've played DF, but just not recently.
But I still play games by Bay12 regularly. Mostly LCS.

As for LCS, I tend to lose interest around the recruitment phase, when I've spent 20 minutes in one turn at a location trying to find the job I want.

Bah. True revolutionaries don't worry about recruiting computer programmers. They recruit hippies and have them troll conservative websites over and over until they turn into expert hackers.  :P

I don't have the patience for that. It's also a threat to organizational security to have bunches of mooks arrested or killed trying to get their skills up from literally nothing. When you want to find someone with actual combat skills that isn't a slummer, it takes way too damn long to find that Black Belt, Army Vet or to get to the point where you can successfully kidnap and convert a conservative agent.

I suppose this isn't really the place for this convo though.

Yeah, there was plenty of discussion in the Curses forum about balancing that out.
I think one of the ideas was to have the wait key autogenerate another encounter, as that would be the only reason you stand in one space waiting anyway.

I stopped playing DF so much several months ago. I've picked it up for a week or two every now and again since then, but whenever I've tried to get back into it over the past 2 or 3 months, I've got bored or distracted. I'll probably try again next update. As for other games, I've played and loved LCS and Space Zoo.

I played DF for quite a while, just haven't played it for a while, now...

I could never figure out how the military system worked. :(
