You'll want as many as you can get, though 1-3 happens to be the norm.

He's still Void Born, so I think no, but I do get them cheaper ;D
Related, since I'm not very experienced, how many fate points do you usually need? And what is they used for? I can't find anything about it in the books.

Actually, Void Born do get the +1 Fate. They're pretty much the game's most lucky background so I gave them what every other normally high fate Homeworld gets, with something extra.

The primary usage of Fate Points is to reroll a failed test. This only spends the point until the start of the next session. However, if your character would normally be killed you can also burn a point, removing it forever but in the process you save your character.

New Rule on Elite Advances for Weapon Training:

I'll let you guys pick up any single Weapon Training talent in the game for 300 XP, or Weapon Training for a single Exotic Weapon for 500 XP.

My primary goal with the DH careers was to avoid Universal Training talents which let characters master everything at once, but the normal career progression is bollocks when it comes to unlocking things. Sorry if this process has been confusing. I could have made all of this more clear if I had thought ahead more, maybe even have ditched the careers entirely like the latest WH40K RPG line does instead of doing this weird hybrid.

Good, that gives me some extra points to spend around.

Also, "Charmed" gives Voiders a chance of not losing their fate points (as I assume in vanilla they lose them for every action), does this still count? Even for life-savers?

edit: This is what it looks like after pointing him out. It's just the same character with redone characteristics, and Navigator added. It's getting a somewhat late here now so I'll continue with the experience and skill/trait buying tomorrow, unless I happen to be unable to fall asleep tonight or something. Just putting it up here to see if I've done anything wrong so far.

Charmed still works as normal.

If you take Navigator you'll also need to choose a Lineage. Those are in the Core Rogue Trader book. You also gain Navigation (Warp) (Int).

Your sheet makes it difficult to see what you spent Starting Points on. It looks as though you've spent 100 on Characteristics, 6 on Wounds (gives +2), and 8 on Fate (gives +2), is that correct? Combined with the 7 point cost of Navigator that brings your total expenditure to 121 so you have 4 points extra. Unless you also spent those on Fate, in which case you'd have 4 Fate total.

No, those are correct, I think. I forgot to mention the 4 extra I hadn't spent yet. There are a simple formula of what I spent on the same line as "dreg", It begins on 118 because of Navigation. Otherwise all the +X numbers is what I spent. I'm sorry for the mess ;)

Adding Navigation skill and choosing Lineage tomorrow, as well.

Er, shouldn't you put more points into WS if you're going into melee?

A Modified verison of my profile using the extra "Buy points" I got.

*looks at those stats*  :o

Point Buy was a separate method, not a combination heh. It's meant to give you greater degree of control over character creation and help your character not suck due to back rolls. If you want to recreate your entire character using the Point Buy with that Moritat package here's the effects from the Inquisitor's Handbook.

Costs 300 XP
Note: This will leave you with 200 XP

-5 Fellowship
Gain Jaded talent
Gain 1d5 Insanity Points
The Bloody Edge (Unique Talent): Must make a Hard (-20) Willpower Test to use any non-edged weapon (such as blades or arrows). Gain Tearing weapon trait with any edged weapon.

Replace normal starting gear with:
Mono-sword
Six throwing knives
Crossbow pistol and 20 bolts
Grapnel and line
Equipment harness
3 doses of stimm
Protective bodyglove (2 AP Primitive Armor, Covers Body/Arms/Legs)

Err... I don't need to install the Moritat package into my character because I already DID THAT.

Err... I don't need to install the Moritat package into my character because I already DID THAT.

What I meant was: From your 60+ stats it seems you combined both the random roll and point buy method, since normally you'd have a cap of around 45 before Advancements. You're only supposed to select one or the other. I put up the package in case you wanted to recreate the character using the point buy system instead of using the random generator where Moritat package is done automatically.

You either take a random generation, as I have, or point buy for your character. I got good rolls, and so I'm eschewing point buy.

Framework you might want to try: http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=12137

Also, I'll link to a PDF of my character sheet, here : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RTFA86UM
