Your mother was becoming worse and worse, unable to function on her own, and you had to look after her. Your PTSD got worse and worse, with constant nightmares about it, and flashbacks. You couldn't even walk into your sister's room anymore, you were so scared. Even though the body was long gone, when your mother suggested you should move into your sister's room you had a full on panic attack. Due to this, you think, you became more and more curious as to what lay outside your tiny sad little home. The occasional screams and banging on the massive steel door almost drove you madder then you were before. You wondered if abandoning your mother to die was worth it just to stop yourself from going even madder in here.

During your pre-teen years, you gained a fondness for books. For an hour or so you could escape to somewhere else then this horrible pit of despair. As a result, you gained a certain amount of curiosity.

You grab your favorite books and some supplies, then open the metal door. It slides upwards and a set of stairs leads up. You walk up the stairs and open the metal gate, leading out into the street.

Over the buildings greenery stands high, beautiful against the grey. Grass is shoving through the concrete in places, and in certain places mats the entire street. Greenery blocks out the sun in places, connected by rooftops. It is wondrous. You have never seen anything like this before. But the world is vastly different, and you will need to fight to survive. You have left that bunker of sadness and paranoia, and walked into the dangerous new world. You gawp at the sheer newness of everything.
