Hmm, can 3DS games booted from the *cough* card *cough* show 3D?
Also I can't update my firmware without the risk of bricking.

The 3DS > DS anyway.

Anyway, is the tablet too early to be a good gaming platform?

No idea, I neither have nor particularly want a 3DS, but as for firmware, afaik there's no possible reason you'd need to update it on a DS
(I have a DSlite, no idea about DSi)

Anyway, is the tablet too early to be a good gaming platform?

I suspect there's a lot of untapped potential there... but for now probably yes.

Personally, I have a massive boner over the pandora, but I understand it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Never heard of that, probably isn't popular and doesn't have much games for it.

Anyway, I'm seriously thinking of the Xperia PLAY, are there any reasons NOT to buy it?

That's because of how indie it is.

Well, now that I've heard of it, it's too mainstream.

Jokes aside, the Pandora is really expensive though.

Meh, it looks interesting, but I won't pick it up now.

Also, does anyone have any experiences on the Xperia PLAY?

Yeah, i * got one. I´m using it for a week now and i am pretty satisfied with it.
I´ve been using SNES emus on it most of the time, stuff like that. Works like a charm. I gave that Banjo & Kazoi game a spin, but it is not to my liking. The keypad and the buttons feel very good, and give good feedback. The camera does work ( i don´t like to take photos with a cellphone ), the phone jack provides good audio. What else do you want to know?
(Compared to my DS: Smaller screen, no pen control. But you allways carry it with you witch counts for something)

*
Bloody hell, who would have though that my fist post on here will be about a cellphone?
Anyhow: I´ve been playing DF on and off for several years now, for about that time i am an active lurker on here. This might actually be the best game and forum on the whole net.
I am playing EvE-Online (Stationtrader, Ex-0.0 Grunt), Planetside & Planetside 2 (I will buy and play 2 even if or better when SOE i going to screw me for a second time) and a shitload of indiegames and rougelinkes. Quite a few of those i read first about on the "Other games" forum, lovely place to find good games. Ok, now go on, nothing to see here . . .

First of all, welcome!

And thanks for the comments, I guess I'll pick up the Xperia PLAY then. :).

The 3DS will be great, once all the good games start coming out. Right now it's pretty lame.

PSP is really nice. The new Monster Hunter sure has a lot of content and will keep you occupied for ages. Not to mention all the neat japanese games and visual novels.

Does the 3DS also run the DS games? I know the DS ran GB Advanced games, there was an insert slot for either type of game. If the 3DS runs DS games, I HIGHLY recommend it. There is an absolute flood of really, really good DS games out there. Go read some reviews / ratings on Gamespot then order a bunch of the older DS games cheap on Amazon or Ebay.

If the 3DS does NOT run DS games, then I highly recommend a normal DS. Because, as I said above, -flood- of great games.
