DF Stream?
« on: August 12, 2011, 10:08:33 pm »

I love watching youtube videos and DF Tutorials from CaptDuck (who is Dutch but sounds like a Dwarf already :P), and FogeyGaming (who talks slow, but concise) but I was wondering if there was someone who broadcasts/streams Dwarf Fortress with the Phoebus, or Ironhand Packs?

I find it very enjoyable watching the videos (Normal and Adventurer Mode) and would feel the same way about someone who broadcasts and does commentary at the same time. Cheers! :)

EDIT: I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area, and I'm very new to Dwarf Fortress. I know how to do stockpiles and dig things out, and 'visualize' the hills/downslopes, etc.. I'm having a bit of problem with workshops and accidentally flooding new forts 50% of the time when trying to make underground farms. I haven't tried any military things, I don't know what ore/metal is for what. Random Fact: I love Seafood IRL so, I always try to take a Fisherman.

I don't know about streaming dwarf fortress but I do know that jefmajor had one of the more amazing adventurer let's plays. Also to find out what a particular ore/mineral is good for loo(K) at it and press enter.
If it has a use it should tell you.

Welcome to DF :)

One "let's play" i've seen lately on the forums is this guy: http://www.youtube.com/user/NickChaosLP?feature=mhee
Also, going to pump my own brand here.. you can watch other people play the game live and chat with them. Info here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Dwarf_Fortress

Some great things to help you out is using the Wiki and Dwarf Therapist.  Tilesets can also lessen the learning curve.

I certainly have the materials to do a live stream. I think it would be humorous, as I'm no professional. But, I believe I know enough. I'll look into it!

I occasionally livestream DF over at justin.tv but it's not consistently everyday or anything like that. www.justin.tv/jinkleft

Also I'm not really a DF vet but I am comfortable getting the basics done!

It may be twitch.tv now but the first link should work. Also I recently found someone streaming DF at jtv also. Search revocane I think it is.

Yes, Revocane is a very entertaining LPer of Dwarf Fortress and other games.  In fact, he streamed some DF last night.
You can find him here -> http://www.youtube.com/user/Revocane

Carnes should still be running a DF multiplayer server.  It's hotseat style, there's one cursor and everyone has to take turns giving commands, and it's rather jerky and a bit laggy because of the hax magic used, but it's very cool and allows for very interesting streaming.

I used to stream Dwarf Fortress all the time, but now I make a lot of Dwarf Fortress videos on my YouTube channel instead. A lot more people get to watch it like this, as any other time I streamed, it would be like 20-30 people watching. It's also better quality and stuff!
