Opinions on Magicka
« on: August 12, 2011, 03:51:13 am »

I just finished Magicka and all I have to say is: I think Magicka is a pretty cool guy. Eh, finds dead moose and doesn't afraid of anything.

What are your opinions?

The game starts going downhill once you get to the Demons.

Then it keeps going downhill until your ready to kill someone.

And then you start spamming thunder storm.

And then you start spamming thunder storm.

Until they disable it (and several stages do)

Which is what I find to be the largest problem with the game.

They give you a wide variety of spells and magic and what they do later in the game to keep up the challenge is to either disable it or to create clear optimisations.

THOUGH a lot of that is because of balancing changes they kept making.

I played it a good while ago, single-player and had tons upon tons of fun. I'm not sure how it measures up now, though it's reasonable it should be better (it had an expansion of sorts I believe?).

When I played it was all about the Murderbeam

, occasionally the Murdersword and having tons of fun screwing around with the less broken spells.

the trick to magicka is spamming circled rocks of fiery doom and explosive thunder mines.
and then watching the enemy trying to touch you.
i only hated the part on the flying rocks...ARGH.
just WHY!?
the shamans with water beams.
one wrong move and pshhhhh down the way.
(and teleport was not there)

“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.

Yeah, it's surprisingly hard on the hardware... hur hur. I had to run it windowed at some rather low resolution to get a playable FPS.

Then again, my laptop IS pretty much abysmal. I can't wait to get a job and buy a real pc :(

I haven't finished it yet, but I enjoy Magicka so far. Multiplayer is definitely more fun, though my friends and I haven't been able to practice enough to not blow each other up constantly. Horrible failure is the best part, though.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Just one. Where do you see more?

And yeah, Magicka is a great game with a big replayability value.
Also "accidentaly" killing your friends for fun and profit!

It's a co-op game through and through and like Left 4 Dead in that so long as you're playing it with mates it's guaranteed hilarity will ensue ^^

It is nearly impossible not to kill your friend even with great players.

THOUGH it is what makes "Earth" maybe a bit tooo good.
