I don't have sympathy people who complain about their information getting used when they put it on a public page.

Well, I have my name and a few other things for public viewing on Facebook... but everything else is private, friends-only. Do you have sympathy for me for complaining that said non-public non-searchable information is used or sold by Facebook?

Obviously this is a silly argument as your information is likely to be sold so long as you enter it, but I am curious.

If Facebook died, then I wouldn't have to get tons of alerts about stupid games that ripoff other innovative games.

And most importantly, Google+ would have a much larger chance of success. And if \/\/ave was integrated into Plus...it could make a come-back!

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Did you expect that not to happen or something?

Depends what the site rules/terms of use/whatever were. I'm not particularly familiar with it myself. But the general rule of thumb is don't give out your sensitive information unless it is nescessary. How badly do you really need to use facebook? Is it worth the risk of all that information getting out? Electronic security sucks really bad, so I rely on it as little as possible.

Anon is going to fail. Even Lulzsec gave Facebook props for their good security. It was even to the point where, when Lulzsec released password/email combos for other websites, Facebook made accounts with those emails inaccessible or somesuch (as most people reuse passwords).
Luzsec is apart of Anon now.

A guy can hope for a social networking site with actual social networking (as opposed to 'EMILY IS HAVING TROUBLE SLAUGHTERING A COW, AND NEEDS HELP! CLICK HERE AND GET TONS OF SPAM MESSAGES FOREVER!'), can't he?

But G+ has games too.
...
DANGIT.
I give up on all social networking.
It's okay, game updates only appear in a games page/wall/stream. No more sifting through pages of farmville stuff to find what you want!

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

What do you think that is if not a type of social networking?

It's all whiny madonna-esque bullshit, they won't do anything.

And then they did.

All the drama surrounding all this, and any potential threats, makes me proud I gave up on social networking ages ago. Simply, no account, no problem. BTW, Myspace (at the time) was a time sink worse than anything else on my computer, or everything on my computer combined. So I don't really have any real feelings about this either way outside of personal pride of getting out while the going was good.

shrug

I have an account on Facebook.  Good luck selling my information!  My only listed interest is the Polish language, and pretty much the only thing I post about is obscure rhetoric texts.

As such, my Facebook actually doesn't seem to have ads on it anymore.

... Either that, or I forgot that I installed Adblock on this computer.  Absent-mindedness is starting to seem a lot more probable than an end to greed...

Heheh.  I remember one day when I "objected" to all the available ads until I got nothing but stuff on math and essay-writing.  Two or three days later, back to weight-loss and clothing ads.  Because I'm a girl.

Still not as bad as what happened to Ochita, if I'm remembering correctly.
