Oh, another funny thing.

The ocean is called "The Ocean Of Deeps"...

It's only ONE z-level in depth.

ONE.

It's barely a freaking pond.

Apparently whoever discovered this ocean enjoyed the use of verbal irony.

Urist: well, we found a pond over there, but it's crazy windy and very salty.
Sarvesh: windy and salty? you mean an ocean?
Urist: no... a pond. It's about the size of a dining hall.
Sarvesh: so... an ocean then. How deep is it?
Urist: like a floors worth
Sarvesh: Armoks beard... that's deep!
Urist: no... no it's not.
Sarvesh: We shall call it The Ocean of Deeps!

DO IT! Though, I doubt it will work. If it's like land creatures spawning, they will only spawn on native land tiles on the map edge and not constructed floors or bridges.

That and kind of can't dig out tiles on the edge too. Best you can do is carve a fortification, and that might just allow the ocean pond to drain instead.

Ah, didn't even consider that. In that case, drain the ocean and see if it will refill itself.

The waves start at one corner and heads to the opposite. They can spawn from all corners at once too. They start crashing at the middle of this... Ocean... And.... HOW THE FUCK DOES THIS WORK!?!?!?!?!?!

The thing I find amazing is that the game genned this ocean and that the ocean is trying to follow the rules of what oceans do.

That said, you need to make a 5x5 cast obsidian island in the middle of it and build a lighthouse.  We simply can't have any boats wrecking themselves with these crazy ass waves!
