You want Obama to say a speach about that knowing he will likely pepper his speach in such a way that all the stupid americans will suddenly hate women?

No.  I want him to do the good job he's supposed to do, for all his citizens.  Even the female 50% living in this country, easy as they would be to ignore.

I am assuming you are talking mostly about the laws restricting access to abortion? The most he can do is publicly disapprove of them until they get struck down by the supreme court. I do agree though, he isn't publicly disapproving of a lot bad state laws that have been pushed through with the resurgence of regressive politics at the state level over the last few years, those included.

I was not talking about the republicans bashing him but rather the ELITE LIBERAL types that inhabit this forum. Not a while ago he was still the socio-aware right wing messiah.

He has had plenty of time to fail to live up to not only the grand expectations he preyed apon, but to the basic standards expected of a president. I am probably one of the elite liberal you are talking about. I wasn't exactly enthused about him to start with. I didn't think he could live up to the hype and I turned out to have been right. I didn't even vote for him the first time around.

Could someone further explain the sudden Obama-bashing to a person outside America?

...

sudden?

I was not talking about the republicans bashing him but rather the ELITE LIBERAL types that inhabit this forum. Not a while ago he was still the socio-aware right wing messiah.
I think you meant left wing messiah. And if I had to point to a specific thing that's triggered the mass outpouring of dissatisfaction, it would be the way the debt ceiling endgame was handled. People on the left had kinda resigned themselves to seeing cuts to social welfare programs and education, but could at least stomach that as a necessary sacrifice if it was balanced by tax increases on the wealthy and the closing of corporate loopholes. It wasn't. To many (including myself) that was a complete surrender to the GOP.

EDIT: The Nobel Prize was "Oh thank God you're not George W. Bush or Sarah Palin. Here, have this trophy." Irrational optimism by the rest of the world joining our own irrational optimism.

At this point I'm starting to believe he was a manufactured president; packaged, marketed and sold to the American people. And everyone, voters, Nobel prize judges, the media, conservatives, vengeful democrats and all bought into it, in some way.

I still can't believe he has a fucking Nobel prize.

I keep saying this each time it comes up.  He can't believe he has a fucking Nobel prize either.  But c'mon, what would you do if you were him, give it back?  Thanks guys, I appreciate the sentiment that you think I've done more to promote world peace than any other person in the world, really, but you're flattering me, I can't accept this.

Consider his reputation if he'd said such a thing. You know, the honest truth.
Well for starters, the Republicans would have railed about how embarrassing and rude it was for the President to reject the prize, because he doesn't want America to have anything nice.  ::)

With a tiny, mostly hopeless out that we might yet curb our over-zealous military spending. Which won't happen, because the establishment will close ranks when it finally comes to vote.

I've always found it extremely hilarious that so many people fell for Obama. Yes we can prove that the masses can be played like a fiddle. That pretty much sums up my whole opinion on this affair.

If you ask me, he should have waited until election time to order the hit on Osama. Everybody had basically forgotten about finding him until he was killed. That was a big day for Obama.

Aqizzar: Yes. It was one of the more vocal opinions here on this forum that he should have given the prize back. Instead he accepted it and gave a speech.

I voted for him, but I figure he's better than McCain... =/

The choice was "Guy who is able to inspire confidence in people" or "More of what Americans had for the past eight years". It's actually an easy choice, and on an international scale everybody was able to get behind Obama's policies because of how they affected us here.

Unfortunately, none of them went through.

I think most assumed he was living somewhere we couldn't get to him. And depending on your view of US military action in allied countries it might have stayed that way. The political fallout should anyone learn that he sat on OBL for months until he could parlay it into an electoral advantage...would have been bad. Like, lose the whole of New York bad.

Lots of people thought Bush was sitting on him for his entire presidential career (and considering Obama's strategy for finding him was "Hey, CIA, go look for Osama", he probably was), but he got two whole terms!

How could someone NOT vote for Obama, considering the alternative?

That's the worst thing about Obama being so inept. The USA is going to elect Michelle Bachman or Ron Perry and the rest of the world is going to get shafted.

I still can't believe he has a fucking Nobel prize.

What did he get that for again?

I persoanally think that they are a mob of right wing people, brainwashed by Fox and the like.( The Freemarket is the voice of Jeebus( Its okay Im christian), and any one who says otherwise is a communist homosexual chinese muslim with darksin who wants to rape your daughter!, type doctrine.
I do think their dislike for Obama was initially racailly motivated similar to how lot of his "messiah" esque expectations came from an excited african american/wahtever is politicaly correct community( Im african american/what ever is polictacly correct and some of my family members thought he was the third "second coming"( For those Atheists out there its the re-ressurectionn/reincarnation of Jesus).

Also my mum said that if a Tea Party member gets into the presidency, she's moving to Canada.

How could someone NOT vote for Obama, considering the alternative?
Its a bad day when your choices are bad(Obama), worse(whoever), and batsh*t insane(Michele Bach)

Well, in essence it's going to be the 2000 elections all over again, except instead of hopeful Liberal Democrats are going to be bitter going to the polls. And there's always the chance that, just like Bush was a 180 on Clinton, someone else will be a 180 on Obama.

Lots of people thought Bush was sitting on him for his entire presidential career (and considering Obama's strategy for finding him was "Hey, CIA, go look for Osama", he probably was), but he got two whole terms!

He had 2 terms on most likely rigged elections, outright lies and propaganda and the support of a huge number of single issue ideological zealots against two democratic candidates that were arguably worse options than Carter was in 76, and Carter only won because he was going against Ford.

How could someone NOT vote for Obama, considering the alternative?

First time around? I thought McCain was going to win anyway and I was hoping that his right turn after the election began was a facade to gather conservative votes, and that once in office he would go back to being a moderate republican. So I threw my vote away on whats his name from Ralph Nader's party.

This time? I get to choose from a legitimate republican anti-christ and a useless bumbling fool, unless Obama decides to let a different democrat run in his place.
