I say strenuous/meager. The head of the family is puritanical in their belief that a good ol' fashioned protestant work ethic will get the family across the mountains to California.

We'll see, I'd start off on filling but if food spoils as much as you say, a trail delay of any sort is likely to force a reduction in rations.

The vote seems to be for strenuous/filling for now. Off we go!

We make it to the Kansas River without any troubles. Our food is getting low already, so we'll hunt as soon as we cross.

Caulk it! Unless waiting for conditions to improve does something? There's no kind of storm or bad weather mechanic is there?

It's cool to see the different graphics! I like seeing the screenshot of the river. I'm looking forward to seeing more shots of whatever differs in this version than from Sensei's.

Waiting a day just makes a day pass and it's possible the width and depth will change a bit. They don't often change by very much, but occasionally they will change fairly significantly and make the river easier to cross. Or harder. It's usually one or the other.

How useful are corpses as flotation devices? Always, always take a ferry if you have the option.

Entirely up to Sappho for what she wants to do with this; if she plans on writing in character losing people/stuff on purpose could make for a more interesting story. Since you can only ford rivers 2 or 3 feet deep, that's what fording this river would do.

I don't like to ford any river over 2 1/2 feet deep. Then again, I'm only 5 feet tall, so...

There seems to be a tie, 2 votes for each method. Fording will cause problems for sure, but if that's what people want for entertainment, we'll do it. Caulking is almost certainly safe, and it's free and immediate. Ferry will cost us $5 and we will have to wait 6 days for our turn. We only have $10 - and this is our first river of many.

I'll accept a last few suggestions and go with the majority, or make an executive decision if necessary.

By the way, sorry about the slow updates. A close friend of mine is having some very serious life problems that I have to help him with. I'm not abandoning this though, even if it goes a bit slow.
