Twitter account to create stories
« on: August 09, 2011, 12:22:10 pm »

Hi All, i was wondering:
how many of you would be interested in following a twitter account to keep trace of a timeline on how a fortress is going on,its events, its difficulties, its main characters, and so on, starting from the point of view of a newbie and growing?

(btw, i put it in this section, because it would only be about fortress mode)

I actually use my twitter account for a bit of DF stories. I have not been posting much due to not much time to play DF.

We could have a little DF twitter group, that'd be awesome. :D

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

I may be interested, but only if it's executed well and with reasonably good command of the English language (or as much as Twitter will allow).

Frankly, I don't think you'll get much storytelling value out of Twitter. I'd suggest a blogging medium that allows for more verbose posts, but that'd just end up being too much like a community fort to be of much interest by itself.

I already follow the #dwarffortress tag.  140 chars isn't much to work with but if you work carefully you can do a pretty good job.

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.

Want to generate interest from the sheeple of the public?

Write really vague but interesting twitter post. People will think your writing about things that are happening IRL and Fun will ensue. Once their jimmies are properly rustled, tell them it's just DF.

#UristMcDwarf: My yard has seen an increase in cat population. There's only thing to do: KITTEN BARBEQUE!

That's sure-fire way to grab their attention....

I would probably follow it if (as one of the previous posters said) it obeyed basic grammar.
Although a blog might be better, as twitter doesn't allow for much wordage in it's posts.

Basically, this is a pointless post agreeing with everyone else. Good job all.

I thought about a blog too, but i really don't have the time to mantain it.

A twitter feed could be something like a diary, from the dwarven point of view.
About the correct grammar , i agree ,and i'd like to be as much as correct as possible, but since english is not my first language, i am sorry that some error may, and will, occur

If Stephen Fry can work within the boundaries of Twitter as a medium, anyone can.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.
