so, out of the 12 artifacts my fort has created, exactly one seems useful, this pick. does it dig faster, or does it merely improve accuracy, like a weapon?

it is actually kind of awesome.

This is a steel pick. All blah blah blah. It is encrusted with chalk and encircled in bands of steel. On the item is an image of Romimi Depthsnarl the elf and Esga Pusbuds the hydra in brown jasper. Esga Pusbuds is striking down Romimi Depthsnarl.

A pick is still a weapon. An artifact steel pick is a skull perforator
Assign your legendary miner to the militia and assign the pick as his weapon (with a shield, of course, but with his skill he will bat arrows out of the air with his pick instead of blocking )

ok, so, another miner has the pick, and he's not legendary, so i can't assign it to the military miner. i don't see a dump option, and forbidding it did nothing...how do I make this dude drop the damn pick?

yessssssss. dudes decked out in cotton candy armor, with an artifact pick. never used picks in battle before, should be interesting.
