Dwarven Napalm!
« on: August 09, 2011, 03:07:49 am »

While this would probably eat up FPS, the basic items needed to create napalm are already in the game. Bring back the alchemist lab to make it, allow stills to create some sort of flammable liquid, combine with one unit of wax from honey bees, one unit of oil, store in a glazed jug, and use it as a trap component! Or allow catapults to throw it, or use it to soak cloth to create crossbow bolts for flaming bolts. Wanna really piss off the hippies elves? Burn down the forest! See that goblin over there? Fuck him and everyone near him! Use it as fuel for smelting! The fun is endless!

No, none of the things used to make napalm are in the game.

No. Not only way napalm not around back then, it's also just silly and stupid to have it in the game.

If it's silly and stupid, it's perfectly Dwarven.

I thought some seiges were repelled with burning oil dumped down on the seigers.  I think Stronghold modeled this.  There were flaming moats in that game too.  I don't think its anachronistic for the time period.  People had already mastered fire for thousands of years.

They used boiling oil, not burning, and that was because it held its heat better than water.

The burning pits are pits of pitch, which would be nice to add into the game, once a proper model of a fluid system that allows for more than 2 fluids, modelling miscibility and non-miscibility, as well as reactions between fluids and other fluids and solids (including walls). While we're at it, we could add in support for rudimentry chemistry
