penguinofhonor drawin' cute stuff
« on: August 08, 2011, 03:59:56 pm »

I've discovered I can only draw cute things. But I like drawing them, so CUTEBOLDS AND SQUIDDLES AHOY.

I've got this ridiculously dumb process - first I draw whatever it is out, then I take a photo of it on my iphone (yeah awful quality, I don't care), then I trace over the initial picture in Paint.NET, then color it and tamper with it. The result is actually pretty good.

This initial post's (unintentional) theme is green stuff. I promise there will be less green in future drawings.

That's an amazingly cute squid. I want to take it home and cuddle it.

I've got several cutebolds to process and turn into passable pictures, but I don't have much time so I'll just post the one I have.

Spoiler: kobold lookout (click to show/hide)

edit: my favorite thing about this one is that the wall he's sliding past is the page background. not very exciting on a forum though
Spoiler: kobold thief (click to show/hide)

edit 2: Introducing the Kobold Titan. Giant ass Kobolds, that's what these are. Yeah, in D&D these are just lizardmen but that is why cutebolds are superior to D&D kobolds in every single way. Next draft of the titan is going to be half T-Rex because I feel like it.

And a little Kobold emote or whatever!

Use this little guy as you please, no credit necessary.

Draw a cutebold village!

Your style is simple and cutesy which certainly fits the whole concept of cutebolds. :U

Very nice, I have to say.

You should try hedgehogs. No cuter animal in DF!

Cutebold factory. Rows and rows of cutebolds being all super-serious about making something like loincloths.

These are pretty good, but adding in shading would really enhance them with minimal additional effort.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

Man, I suck at that stuff. That's why I'm drawing cartoony cutebolds in the first place. Though I agree I could probably learn some simple shading pretty easily. It could be the second step in my slow artistic journey.

Also I really should get on making a few more of these.
