I'm not sure if we have the materials for the track disguising idea, it is a small cabin in the middle of nowhere after all. Although there were some blankets in the chest, maybe a toolbox is heavy enough to weigh them down? We can either fuck stealthiness and just drive, or walk... I've got an idea about the whole fishing thing for further down the road  8)

We could use some of the wrenches to weigh it down, I suppose. After that horrible dream/hallucination/abduction, I'm going to take extra care.

You would use this small motor vehicle to travel, but you're worried about being discovered in the future. You must find a way to cover your tracks, but how? A few blankets should do the trick! You run back to the cabin and retrieve the blankets from the chest. You tie these onto the back of the vehicle and weigh them down with some tools. You nose around in the shed some more and fill your pockets with tools, namely a wrench; some pliers; and a handsaw (which you put on the atv). The atv has a compartment on it which you think you could store your items in. You open it and find this map:

It seems like you're a mile or so away from the highway that intersects a human settlement called "Tonsina". You hop onto the atv and examine the ignition system and throttle. You ride off down the dirt path... until the blanket snaps off, you don't even notice it at first. You stop and are about to get off, but you sense a human presence further along the path. Will you continue on foot or stop to repair the atv and risk detection?

:-\use some telepathic energy to make them turn around, then repair the atv and try to find tosinia or whatever on the large map.

Hide in the forest and while they're examining the ATV club them in the head with a branch. They would just think it's a mugging.

Which, possibly like taking this ATV in a small(?) community such as this, is likely to draw attention, especially toward suspicious characters. Like us.

It seems to me that our best bet on escaping wintery hell (and eventual Chinese invasion) is through carefully manipulating the humans to take us wherever it is we want to go, and help us do whatever it is would want to do. You know, besides survive. That's a little question we should probably start to consider.

At any rate, there is no way we will be able to get aboard any sort of public transport without almost certainly being found out. This person up ahead might be our best chance thus far, since we've found them alone (hopefully) and relatively isolated.

Get to work on the ATV and wait for them to approach. As they come within range, attempt to sense what "type" person they are, to better understand their sympathies and how to appeal to them. If they panic, use telepathy to incapacitate them and erase/distort their memory.

Out of curiosity, what are the extents of the telepathic power? Can we do any sort of information gathering beyond basic emotions, can we do memory wipes, can we go so far as to actually break their mind and bend them to our will, if we are at full power? These data would be helpful at this point, I think.

This is a good idea. It lets us repair the ATV and maybe even gain some information or an ally.

About telepathic powers: you can do pretty much anything at "full energy" including turning a human brain into soup. This would likely drain most of your energy though. More minor tasks such as mind reading, sensing presences, short term memory wipes, etc, take less energy for individuals at least. Enslaving groups of humans would be considerably hard though. I'm thinking about having some kind of point system where 20 pts is full and each action costs a certain amount. When you perform something very draining, you increase your mental capacity or something, just an idea.

Oh god a FF II level up system... but yes, having something a bit more defined on something that's generally very undefined would be nice for those of us who make plans.

You dismount the atv and attempt to reattach the blanket. You concentrate on the man approaching, just over a small rise in the trail. He cannot see you yet, but you can see all of his thoughts and emotions. He's distressed, one of his relatives was going to meet him in Tonsina early in the morning, but they never came. He's looking for this person. You know exactly who it is... The man walks over the hill and sees you fiddling with the atv. He stops and calls out to you, then he notices that the atv belongs to him... He starts running toward you: "Hey, what are you doing man!"

stay calm and try to communicate with him dont show him your face. Explain with turned back that you will slowly turn around and that he should keep calm and not run away no matter how it looks and that he please shouldn't point a gun at us because were completely harmless.

after we told him that, slowly turn around. dont move a face muscle. dont dare to grin we dont know how frightenening it might look to him at that moment.
