You slowly raise your arms and drop the rifle. The humans expression turns from pure hatred to bewildered shock. You assemble what little is left of your being to communicate with this human: "I'm not here to hurt you, I'm just trying to survive. Please, I'll return everything if you let me leave peacefully." The human seems to be stupefied, he stands there without saying a word. He reaches his hand up to his chest and clutches it violently, dropping the pistol to the ground. He stands for a moment, his mouth agape, then falls to the ground. You inch over towards him, the expression is burned on his face, but he is not moving. A check of his vital signs proves he is dead. A heart attack. He looks fairly old for a human anyway.

Trade the rifle for the less unwieldy and conspicuous pistol and collect ammunition for latter. Handling the former with gloves or one of those white things that feel like dry skin, wipe it clean and set it back down on the table with a round or two. We should try and find out if he has anything else that would be useful, like a hiking backpack to carry our things. I was going to suggest looking for transportation, but we probably wouldn't know how to use anything here... Look for a fishing rod. It'll help us get food if we can't find anything to hunt. Also, grab some water until we can find a stream (I assume if we can eat raw meat, we can survive anything in unboiled river water).

Well, it was fresh raw meat, so the only risk from that was if the animal already had something. River water in 1990, well I can't actually place where we are yet so I don't have any guess on this, but I'm pretty sure it's safe. So long as there isn't anything floating in it, and it's clear, should be perfectly fine.

You lift the old human and gently lay him in his bed, as if he expired in his sleep. In the bedroom are a pair of boots, size 12's. They seem to fit, albeit compressing your toes. A small drawer stands next to the bed, you open it and find a map:

The map leaves no clue to your exact location, you could be anywhere on it. You leave the small room and swap the large rifle for the more compact pistol, you grab some ammo as well. One more quick search and you locate some bottled water, which you down on the spot. Will you stay here and recover (likely to take hours), or will you continue into the woods?

Unless, you know, we evolved on another planet, and therefore have no resistance to alien microbes, in which case we have another five minutes to live. 

We would already be dead if we didn't have any immune system, as the airborne diseases entered our lungs. And our race, us included, have been studying the humans, so I would think they either already would have come into contact with some of the more mundane deadly things, or have been vaccinated. Either way, fresh raw meat is perfectly fine to eat (Unless the animal had something), and clear running water with nothing floating in it is perfectly fine to drink.
